all the talk of getting briles makes me ask a simple question, isnt he under contract and is he in any way unhappy where he is? and if not why wouldnt houston do something to make him want to stay?

i get that blank checks speak loudly and poorer schools cant compete but where does this fit with him?

its all pretty moot any way since short of E quitting, leaving town, and turning off his phone service, O will never let him go

SO, coaches leave all the time while under contract

No idea. Does a coach have to be "unhappy" to make a move from Houston to LSU?

houston do something to make him want to stay

Current contract is 2 years, $400k per...I believe.

SE contract is 2 years, 850K per.

Call me crazy, but I believe an OC at HOUSTON would entertain moving to another program 2-3 hours down the road for double pay.

You're right, I'm sure he would rather remain the OC at a G5 school.

Sadly I think the only way we get a new OC next year is if CSE retires or tells O he is stepping down to a smaller role on the staff and O has no choice but to hire a new OC.

Who knows, Alleva or the SEC may block CKB from becoming the next OC due to the past issues at Baylor. Knowing how stupid and petty Alleva is, it wouldn't shock me.

But moving to LSU for double the pay is a no brainer I'd have to think

In a perfect world: I'd love for CKB to come here!

SE stepping down is the only way change will be made. Sad that CEO put SE in this postion. He either has to fall on the sword this year or be fired from his alma mater

I think Ensminger would gladly accept his old TE coach position. I just don't think O will make the move for Briles. Guess we'll see.

He makes 400,000 a year currently.

Houston is going to have to renegotiate his contract if they want to keep him.

Good grief, Coach O would be crazy not to go after Briles if THAT'S all he's making at Houston.

I often wonder what would make a guy, who doesn't follow sports in any form or fashion, suddenly decide to become an internet poster...

To answer the question, nothing. Nothing says Briles is looking for a job. Other than the possibility of tripling his income.

Exactly!

SE will have to step down and go back to old position bc CEO will not remove him.

Briles has a 2 year deal with base pay of $400k per year to be OC and QB coach, R. Clements has a 2 year deal at $290 as running game and Oline coach.

SE has a 2 year contract at $850k per year and Sullivan 1 year 450k per year.

Remove Sullivan from team, SE takes old position and it pays for itself.

I think Tilman Fertitta would open up his checkbook a good bit to keep him there.

He would try. No doubt. But it comes down to the better opportunity for his career. If he comes to LSU and revamps this dead offense, it would pay dividends. Especially in the SEC.

But at the same time, maybe he sees the Canada situation and is shied away from that. Hopefully that's not the case. That would be absolutely devastating.

I still think LSU out bids Houston easy though.

Would he double his current pay?

Don't renew sullivans $450k per year 1 yr contract.

SE back to TEs at Sullivan pay or lower, sign KB to SE current contract for 3 years.

Maybe he would be if LSU asked if he'd like to be the OC? Just a guess...

I agree with this obviously.

I believe this is possible. I think UH can match our offer and make it a tougher choice than it should be because of that.

Fertitta is the kind of booster/regent that I've always wanted for LSU. He is willing to spend to get what he wants.

Looking at it from the point of program profitability, absolutely. However, UH has some dedicated alumni. Their endowment is actually larger than LSU's.
