Other than being in the top 4, rankings have no bearing on BCS selections. Bowl committees pick based on $$. Tickets sales, which fan base travels, who will fill hotels...that's it. So hype is everything. Being a spot or two above a school means jack shite.

At least someone gets it. If more people understood this we could eliminate half the bull shite on the rant.

Because Aggie fans travel in large numbers.... are better off financially than lsu fans, we spend more money, and we bring a better class of fan.

I don't want to imagine Bourbon Street filled with Aggies like in your avatar frolocing down the street at midnight.

Oz will probably get a lot of business if aTm goes to the Sugar bowl. Might even see a yell leader take the stage.

They don't have to go strickly by the rankings and don't care who beat who. The thought is the Aggies would swarm NOLA or whereever since they haven't been to a big bowl in a long, long time. Where as LSU was in NOLA last year.

Thank you! EVERY bowl game besides the BCSNCG is just a glorified exhibition game. Sure there are conference tie-ins and the top 4 BCS rule, but subject to those parameters, the bowls are generally free to invite whomever they want to play in their game. Therefore, if the Sugar Bowl feels it's more beneficial to their interest to invite A&M over LSU, then they will do so.

If Bama loses to Auburn (ain't gunna happen but let's go down this retard road one more time), you would have a 3 way tie for 1st in the SEC West. The first tie-breaker is head to head record which is a tie. The second tie breaker is division record. Because both of Alabama's loses came to Division opponents and both LSU and A&M had one of their conference loses to Florida out of the East, Alabama would be eliminated and LSU and A&M would be left. LSU holds the edge head to head and in the BCS so LSU would win the division (obviously assuming we win on Friday) and go to Atlanta to play Georgia.

I think if JFF wins the Heisman and LSU is not in the top for we go. If he doesn't then LSU goes regardless.

The bowl selection show will be on December 2nd. The Heisman trophy ceremony isn't until December 8th. Therefore, the Sugar Bowl Committee will be making their choice without knowing who won the Heisman Trophy.

I would be very surprised if a Sugar Bowl Committee with LSU alumni on it passes up an LSU team that is ranked higher in the BCS than A&M and won the head to head matchup.

higher rankings and alumni loyalty are not as important as $$$$. But I think the Cotton is asking people behind the scenes to pass on A&M.

A&M will not go to the Sugar. A&Ms BCS hopes took a MAJOR hit when KSU lost.

A&M's most likely bowls are Cap One and Cotton by a mile

The Sugar Bowl will pick LSU if we win and Florida loses and assuming the SEC champ ends up in Miami. This is from someone on the Sugar Bowl committee.

Not so fast oOoLsUtIgErSoOo:
A gump loss sends LSU to the SECCG LSU would have a loss in the west and east. Gumps would have two loses in the west. That tie breaker trumps head to head. Provided LSU takes care of business Friday.

Wrong.

Here are the tiebreaker rules from the SEC website an a link to the page.

SEC Tiebreaker Page

A. TWO-TEAM TIE

1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.
2. Records of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall record (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
4. Overall record vs. all common non-divisional opponents.
5. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
6. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game.

B. THREE (OR MORE) TEAM TIE

1. (Once the tie has been reduced to two teams, go to the two-team tie-breaker format.)
2. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams.
3. Record of the tied teams within the division.
4. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last.
5. Overall record vs. non-division teams.
6. Combined record vs. all common non-divisional teams.
7. Record vs. common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional) record and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
8. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the SEC Championship Game.

What makes you say this? I'd think a BCS bowl would be dying for a dynamic QB and a fan base that travels.

All jokes aside, a UT-A&M Cotton bowl would be ratings nirvana. Probably highest rating besides NC.
