Experts pick Clemson: Breakdown summary

I just watched this preview on YouTube by these two expert analysts from cbssn I think it was...they both picked Clemson.
Basically, they said it would be a classic game but because of:
1. Clemson’s experience (9 returning starters on offense)
2. Giving Venables two weeks to prepare (said that he will confuse Burrow somehow - could move Simmons to deep safety w/ his long arms adding more range on the back end - he did it against OSU in second half)
3. and the fact that, basically, defense wins championships and right now, Clemson’s D is just better (ranked 1st, 1st, and 3rd the last 3 years in total defense given up to opposing offenses) - I’d counter this by pointing to their weak schedule compared to ours, however.
....I hate this but are they right?
If, somehow, they confuse Burrow and get pressure on him (experts also brought up our Lewis injury - could be a factor) and make him turn it over a time or two?
They also said that we will put Stingley and Fulton on islands and that Delpit will be the deciding factor - if he plays well and handles the open field tackles out of the backfield and help with taking down their big receivers, we win; but if not, trouble for us. They said he needs to play the game of his life.
For the record, I’m a huge LSU homer but I also love reading about our opponents. Clemson is loaded, even though they lost a ton of talent to the draft last year, they have experience and 5* talent. Their QB already has a ring and he can run. He can also throw extremely well and is hard to take down being that he stands 6’6”.
They also have ole Etienne who can go from 0-100 in a split second.
Their receivers are t a l l. So are ours.
They said it will come down to defense and they’re picking Clemson, coupled with Venables squeaking by Aranda and getting JoeyB to turn it over a time or two.
frick them.
I understand that it’s only two random “experts” opinions but I think it will be a much closer game than most of us think.

Clemson got very lucky against OSU. We can’t give away stupid penalties. No Targeting, hitting the punter. We have to be smart against Clemson. They can also come back. Keep our feet on the gas. What Ryan Day did was to keep their feet on the gas and take control and put Brent Venables on the back foot. But they gave away stupid penalties and kept them in the game.
On Lawrence: He didn’t play very well at the start of the year at all. Threw a lot of picks. He has weak stats against Terrible ACC defences even though he only played the first half. Burrow has balled out against SEC defenses playing 3Q a lot.
On Safeties Fake Blitzing:Burrow just has to time it so our receivers get past the corners and into their hands not a safeties hands.

Weren’t all of these things basically said about LSU’s matchup with Alabama? How’d that work out?

CBS sports? I bet one of them was Barrett Sallee.

They are missing two major points:
1. The Clemson D will not have time to sub and will have to play with the same guys every time and the no huddle will prevent the Clemson D to adjust quickly enough.
2. The LSU D is much improved toward the end of the season and they did not take that into account.

I watched it tonight too, and think they are full of shite!

If burrow happens to turn it over a few times Clemson better hope they are scoring TD because I can assure you the next drive we will be putting up 7. Burrow with turnovers will only keep it close at best

They got two really tall receivers and a very good rb. This will be LSU biggest matchup yet. Who out of the defensive backs are tall and can matchup with their tall receivers?

Both of our CBs have good height and have practiced against tall receivers all year long. We are adding another beast in the pass rush with Divinity to stir things up as well.
Not allowing Clemson's D to sub will be the difference. LSU has done exactly that all year and only AU has been able to keep up due to their nasty DL. Clemson doesn't have that this year.
It will be a good game but I se LSU getting a lead and not giving it up.

IF Clemson plays a near perfect or perfect game and LSU has an off night Clemson could win.
That’s what I’m reading these experts are saying. Well IF that were to happen a Clemson victory is possible. We have not had an off night as a team this year. The defense has but not the team.
Joe Burrow has had one dream since he began playing football - to win a natty.
Look
If you had
One shot
Or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted
In one moment
Would you capture it
Or just let it slip?
I trust Joey B to bring it home by at least 7 but I think more like 14.

No it won't! LSU is truly battle tested! Clemson just got there one true test! Ohio State gave Clemson the game! With some extra help from the referees! Clemson has not seen a team like LSU! And don't get fooled with all that negative talk about LSU's Defense! They will be ready to go on both sides of the ball! Clemson is in for a rude awakening!

If, somehow, they confuse Burrow and get pressure on him and make him turn it over a time or two?
If fear was plucky, and globes were square,
And dirt was cleanly and tears were glee
Things would seem fair,—
Yet they’d all despair,
For if here was there
We wouldn’t be we.

Giving Venables two weeks to prepare (said that he will confuse Burrow somehow
And they are basing this on...? The inability of every opposing DC to confuse him this year? Burrow's ability to adjust after the play?
Burrow and the receivers have been on the same page all year. Even when the play breaks down, receivers find open space and Burrow throws accurately on the run. Venables should spend more time on making sure his players aren't confused by LSU's offense. It would be better for him than trying to confuse Burrow.

Clemson punted 7 times against Ohio State. They'll punt 5, 6, 7 times against LSU.
LSU punted once against Grinch's "fastest defense in the NCAA"
Clemson's gonna get lit up

So the cliff notes are that they don’t believe LSU is a “complete team”?
Well, alright. Let’s play the game and see what takes place.

48-27 LSU. It won’t be close, but maybe Clemson scores some desperation garbage time stuff. Maybe gets an onside kick and makes it look like a one score game the way Bama did.
