I’m so excited to see this guy back on the field. Yesterday, Mascona said that Smith was LSU’s best player including Perkins. With gamechangers like Maason and Harold, all we need is for our secondary players to be in position. Maason and Harold will be forcing a ton of bad passes. Not to mention that we have an All-American playing at the other DT spot.

I doubt seriously that he’s better than Harold Perkins. How could anyone possibly determine that from watching practice?

Perkins is really good……like a generational type of talent.

Perkins is probably on the same level as Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, Jamal Adams, Kevin Faulk, etc.

Moscona never exaggerates.

Neither does Culotta.

He’s amazing, he will play in the NFL and be a wealthy man. Having said that, not sure how moscona can make claims like that

You must have forgotten that Smith played as a true freshman in 2021. Kelly really had a lot of positive things to say about him before the 2022 season. If he is health, he will be a beast.

Mascona has no idea. He only regurgitates what he hears from other people.

All but guarantees that he isn't

Perkins’ ability to be more multiple this year after learning to play ILB makes him even more dangerous and unpredictable than last year.

I love Maason Smith, but there’s no way I’d predict him being better than Perkins, and he doesn’t need to be.

When I first read this, I thought it said “according to Perkins” & I sh*t my pants.

Dude blew a knee out by jumping up in air celebrating, I’ll wait to see if he can stay healthy first before any bold predictions

It’s a good debate to have. And an even better problem to have.

Both are gong to demand some special scheming/attention. Watch how they makes others all American’like this year.

This defense should be pretty special and I love when LSU’s D is wrecking shite.

Sorry, while I'm excited to have him back, I just don't see an individual "beast"/generational talent.

DT's over 6-3+, 300+ lbs just don't dominate/change-games like shorter, quicker DT's do. The last giant college "game-changer" at DT was Ndamukong Suh, & he was the exception to the rule. While the giants play key roles in a front 7's success/dominance & can have long productive individual careers, there's not an Aaron Donald among them.

6-5, 311 Maason Smith is more college Brockers than he is college Dorsey.

That big fricker from Auburn almost beat us by himself in 2019.

Mason and Wingo together is what I'm really excited about.
Also for us to knock off Georgia, Bama, and win the Natty
Guillory, JJefferson will need to give us great minutes.

I am super excited for Smith to return, but Perkins and Wingo have a body of work that can not be ignored. Smith has other worldly potential and I believe he will show it but I cant put him ahead of either Perkins or Wingo at this time.

Based on pure physical traits he in an NFL first-rounder and why he was a 5 star recruit. God doesn't make many people that big/strong who can move that well.

But he's missed an entire season and will be returning from a significant injury. That being the case, I think it is probably reasonable to not expect him to be a game wrecker right out of the gate.
