I will admit that I was one of the people who thought he was guilty based upon the early reports that he was speeding, trying to pass and cut it too close for those behind him to react in time.
Now that the surveillance video has come out, it is beyond a shadow of a doubt that Lacy was completely innocent and had ZERO to do with the accident.
It really sucks that Lacy took his own life knowing that the evidence would eventually exonerate him.
I apologize for my role in this whole debacle, and I encourage everyone who has a loved one with emotional issues to get them the help they need to prevent such tragedies in the future.

i'm just asking cause trying to understand...
what caused the vehicle that we can't see to hit the SUV? Its like the attorney is saying that kyren was in the oncoming lane of possibly the vehicle that swerved and hit the old man? Was kyren's vehicle a cause of making this other person swerve 92 yds up the road?

WTF is the trooper doing telling the person at 16:00, what to document on their statement? fricking terrible. The guy driving the gold truck even admits that he didn't slam on his brakes and that the lady behind him caused the accident. The trooper tells him to write something down that is the opposite. I don't understand why he would do something like that....just why?

When Kyren caught that game winning TD in overtime last year against Ole Miss he became a Tiger Stadium legend immortalized. I can almost see it when I look down on the field ala Billy Cannon et al. As trite as that may sound its pretty damn powerful to me and others who have left part of themselves on that field I'm sure.
Such a tragic and heartbreaking turn of events, but he is absolutely in a better place.

I said it back then "How did Kyren cause the wreck, IF he had to pass it up." like the report said.
What a shame man.
What a shame man.

I imagine that people that said he caused it were the 4 people that kyran passed when they probably didnt even see the acciden
That's probably a reasonable guess
These were the alleged facts leading to the arrest:
quote:
The investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Hwy 20. The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone. As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.
The driver of the truck claims he slammed on his brakes...presumably because Lacy was in his lane of travel. The video doesn't show where Lacy was when the driver of the truck slammed on his brakes. However the video shows Lacy, in his lane of travel, arriving at the scene a few seconds after the collision. Notably, there was a car in front of Lacy between he and the SUV that was hit.
The argument posed by the attorney is the guy saying he had to slam on his brakes because Lacy in his lane coming at him head on appears to be refuted by the report which purportedly shows Lacy was back in his lane nearly 100 yards behind where the collision took place. The attorney also argues the Kia was tailgating the truck. Thus, when the truck abruptly stopped she turned into the other lane to avoid rearended the truck. That is, had she not been tailgating there would have been no reason for her to turn into the other lane to avoid rearending the truck.
In short, while Lacy had passed 4 cars prior to the collision, the driver of the truck's claim that he slammed on his breaks to avoid getting hit by Lacy head on seems a bit dubious given Lacy was evidently back in his lane of travel at the time the driver of the truck slammed on his brakes. In other words, there was no reason for the driver of the truck to slam on his brakes. And even if there was, had the driver of the Kia not been tailgating the truck, she would not have had to turn into the SUV's lane and hit the SUV head-on.
This case to me sounded questionable from day one. I think I was even one of the ones who said that in the initial thread. But, you had a guy driving a charger and a dead veteran. Thus, reason went out of the window and Lacy was immediately judged to be both a "thug" and at fault.
Perhaps this may be a lesson to let all facts come out before immediately jumping to conclusions.

This happens way more than you know. I have yet to see an accident police report that was 100% accurate

Damn. That’s some shite that makes you sick to your stomach. I’m not excusing his suicide, but he had his life/career ripped away and his name tarnished over something he wasn’t even involved in. I wouldn’t know how to react in his situation either
Rest in peace, Kyren.

Cliff notes;
This was in no way Lacy’s fault. it’s actually fricking insane that he was involved at all.
there is a video where you see the collision and the like lacy slowly pulls up and goes around.

The troopers involved especially the idiot persuading the fella in gold truck telling him what to say should never be able to wear a badge again.

I am not a sue happy person type but I’d be suing any and everyone who altered this/influenced this investigation.
It’s a shame that these parents lost a child and because of this.

There are SOOOO MANY people that owe an apology to Lacy and his family. The APOLOGY should be AS LOUD as the wrongful criticism!!!

Downvote. There is not a single Tiger fan or person here who assigned less value to him because of his skin color. This was a fricked up tragedy in so many regards and everyone was and remains pissed off and heartbroken about this. You need to slow your roll.

Playing devil's advocate...is it possible that the driver saw him in the wrong lane up ahead and then swerved into the oncoming lane. Since Kyren did pass those 4 other cars. Is that what the police were saying?
