So Bama didn’t have a quarterback with Jalen and Tua and Jones on the team?

If so that means that Myles can come out when we're blowing the doors off of people by half time and Max can get some clean up reps!!

If Defense can just be top 5 in the SEC then why not?

If you're saying the 2 QB system is dead, you are completely wrong. There has never been a time when more snaps are being taken by someone other than the starting QB in cases when they are not injured. Many teams have a dual threat qb or running back take snaps. Taysom Hill has been great taking several snaps a game for the Saints and he proved to be a capable back up when Brees was hurt.

The difference now as in the past is that it is now almost completely situational and in the past it was a rotation. A pure rotation is a bad idea, because the last thing you want to do is pull a QB that is playing well and possibly cool the hot hand.

I could see this type of situation working well with Brennan and Johnson, since Johnson is the better runner and would be effective near the goal line because it would force the defense to account for another runner, plus he could throw the ball too.

I realize the game has changed over the years.

However, I still fondly remember Mickey Guidry sparking the team when he got a series in the 2nd quarter backing up Tommy Hodson.

And Bert Jones had one of the Lyons brothers as a capable backup.

The way Brennan just stands in the pocket like a statue it's safe to say he'll never make it through a whole season. Especially in a normal season when there are likely to be good defenses on the schedule.

That wasn’t a split

When you’re playing two guys cause you aren’t sure who is better, you have none

I think this so far from the Saints situation. !. Taysom can't throw so when he was in game it was almost certainly going to be a run play. Max can run AND throw if you have the best of both worlds why not just start him? Not saying he is better than Myles, but to compare this situation to Saints i think is invalid. Plus Taysom in college and obvsiouly now is much faster than what max is.

Brennen nor Johnson will be the starting QB . I’m putting my money on Finley .

My money would be on Finley being 3rd on the depth chart after Spring drills and transferring.

I would have no ill will toward him nor any of the other QBs if any transferred as they all want to play.

The main concern is that Brennan doesn’t/can’t return to 100%. I know O said he looks full go but it’s just walkthroughs and he hasn’t yet been cleared.

I think Brennan dramatically improved from game 1 to game 3 and was on pace to be really good, despite being almost immobile.

But if he can’t get back to full health and TJ transfers, we’ve got a Soph who only played a couple full games and a true freshman. Would be tough.

I’m just glad we are past the days of trying to find a QB period. It’s nice that we are arguing over who is better and not arguing over who is the least liability like past years

My point exactly. Let the competition play out, at least early in the season...

I find it amazing that all of the naysayers here will fight with me on this subject, but would say it was absolutely correct to give Max some game reps when TJ was struggling mightily.

Yeahm Cholly Mac hated the forward pass as much as Miles.
He was a joke also. Bert Jones was a preseason Heisman candidate. Sports Illustrated sent a reporter down for interviews and Mac told them he wasn't sure Jones was going to be the starter.
