Am I the only one who is a little concerned with pass protection. I know its still very early but it won't matter who the QB is if we have people come off the edge untouched a lot
I'm concerned. Pass protect is vital to a functional passing game. The interior let guys through commonly. The tackles got beat on spin moves and bull rush. Moore, Chaisson n company had great games. The million dollar question is whether the offensive interior is that weak or the interior defense is that strong. I'll side with the later. I expect the offensive tackles to be the weakness honestly, but if you have a pocket you can manage that somewhat. If your interior gets beat often it will be a long day for the QB!
All three quarterbacks looked okay. Brennan and McMillan looked the best to me. They were flushed an awful lot and still seemed to manage somewhat.
The DB's did not look Traditional LSU quality. They got beat, but we are missing experience, especially with CB's. I think Netherly could be good. He seems to have a knack for the position

Chaisson was making the o line look silly out there.

He probably gets a fire lit under his arse everytime one of the draft accounts posts him getting manhandled by the ND lineman

I've gone back and watched all 3. They weren't as bad as some say. All 3 were under heavy durress much of the time. Davis drops a bomb that should've ended up inside the 5. Dillon dropped a sure td. Every qb was victimized repeatedly by crappy shotgun snaps. (That throws off the timing a good second or two). Yes, ther s work to do, but some of the injured starters will help upon return and some true freshman could make some real noise. Oh, and Justin Jefferson came to play football. The other wr's better take notice.

He looked better than Brennan, IMO.
Narcisse has a long way to go. But, he is comfortable in the pocket. Brennan isn't. Brennan either needs to have a deep drop, or needs to be getting rid of the ball quickly.
The other two did a very good jobs of moving within the pocket. If Narcisse keeps doing that, he's going to pass up Brennan pretty easily, IMO.

I liked how McMillan scrambled. He seemed able to dodge rushers and had quickness moving downfield.
His two scrambles in the red zone were very, very good.

Almost half his yard came on one pass play where the DE tagged him on his back and in a real game he would be eating dirt.

Narcisse throwing motion is really awkward and he threw into a lot of double coverage!

Narcisse will be more of a threat when he can run like he did in HS without a no-contact jersey on.

I agree with all of this. The stats were the worst looking part. Frankly the QBs all settles down and had some good drives.

To be fair, even without that pass he had 111 yards on only 12 attempts, compared to 23 for MB and 29 for McMillan. Narcisse was also on the run for the entirety of his HS career so I’m not worried much about his pocket presence. If you watch any of his HS footage escapability and throwing on the run are his strengths.

He was also 6-9 his last 9 throws

Every Pass/Run from each QB
Aside from the generally poor execution by the offense, there didn't appear to be an SEC level QB in the bunch.
I've been generally supportive of Orgeron, in spite of my reservations and some of his questionable decisions. However, he bet the house on Ensminger being able to build an effective offense.

Seemed like once the jitters subsided and he calmed down he was on the money for the most part. Of course the majority of LSU fans, particularly on the Rant, are pulling for Brennan, so there’s going to be some favoritism in the comments.

Somewhat, but you have to remember that saddhiq Charles and Austin Deculus are still out and no one who played left tackle is close to Charles, so we should be somewhat better with those 2.

Finally..... took 4 pages for someone to point out the obvious instead of joining the groupthink disaster. Additionally, I believe there was an interior offensive lineman that is competing for starting time that didn’t play.

First off, thanks for the compilation. Secondly, seeing it again, as a whole it was better than seeing it live. I have to say, Brennan looked a lot better seeing it for a second time, he got flushed out of the pocket , extended the play and completed passes. Not all he did was good, that was obvious. Still think JM looked the most comfortable and poised. Lowell had some good passes and also got away with some passes. LN and MB had 3-4 risky passes that they got "away" with.

Thank you for doing this. The results are pretty clear

1. McMillan
Good: his escapability. touch on short passes
bad: lacks arm strength. looks to run too soon from pocket. inaccurate. Afraid to throw over the middle
2. Narcisse
Good: again, escapability. Arm strength. Threw a nice pass to endzone Jefferson should have had. Another drop or 2 by his WR in this game.
bad: Foot work. Looks indecisive. They do not have confidence in him to throw over middle it seems.
3. Brennan
Good: his timing looked the best out of the 3. Arm strength is sufficient. The only passer to complete multiple throws over the middle. Slippery in pocket, looks downfield.
Bad: built like a HS freshman. Gets flustered when his internal clock tells him its time. When he attempts to air it out he looses accuracy.
