RP was 2-0 in 2007. Flynn went 10-2.

Mile's said this, and I believe it's true, when the quarterback makes the throws, the offense works. With just the few completions Etling made that did damage (converting 3rd down, long TD), the run game was able to be dominant and eat the clock. That is Miles' offensive scheme forever. The qb don't have to win games, but he has to pose the threat of being able to win games. Harris' problem is that he is an excellent practice guy. Everyone who played sports has seen these guys who tear it up at practice and suck in the games. That is Harris, and it's a mental problem. Miles problem is that he is so narrow minded he can't swallow the fact that Harris is not going to be the same in games that he is in practice. Now Etling has a small windoW to prove himself, but if he struggles too much, we will be back to Harris.

HIs love affair with JJ was too strong for Mett to see the field.

Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee in 2011 both completed a higher percentage of passes and had a higher QB rating than Mett had in 2012. You may think the NC game goes differently with Mett back there, but there is nothing that supports that statistically.

The reason Mett didn't play in 2011 was because of CLM's affinity for seniority. With the play that we could put together that year, there would have been no doubt of victory at Bama, and thus, no rematch. Les was just too hard-headed to give Mett a chance

Keep up, or at least try.

If Mett had seen more PT during all the blowouts in 2011 I would bet he would've beaten bama in 2012. We had plenty of opportunities to develop him more in 2011

perrilloux would have been great.

RP WAS great in his limited 2 starts.

20 for 25 vs. MTSU
20 for 30 vs. Tenn (SEC-CG MVP)

40 for 55 as a starter.

Hell, if Mett and Jarvis would have just been given a chance to complete that 3rd and 6 at the end of the game, Mett *would* have beaten Bama. I'm still pissed about that call. Mett played great that game. We absolutely handed Bama a chance at game-and-Chavis on that stupid, conservative 3rd down call. ARGH!

We're not. But he can hit a 10 yd curl. So he's instantly better.

In game development is overblown by folks who only trust what they see.
Check Flynn's att prior to Miami. Explain RP success on maybe 10 att priot to MTSU and 50 att prior to UTk.
Explain the number of 1st year starters rantards constantly spout off about who do well.

This is true. But it's been pointed out about a million times in the last 2 years. It certainly doesn't warrant a new thread.

No. Flynn and Russell both got here in 2003 and spent 2 years under Saban.

Etling will prove to be very good if our Oline improves. He's the perfect qb for this system. Traditional pro system is still successful in college and NFL if ran properly with the right qb. Etling is that guy. And so is Brennan. Too bad miles can't see what he truly needs at qb

Of course the narrative would have completely changed if Ryan P had stayed. He would have flourished as the starter after Flynn left IMO

Im still bugged by the fact that they went with the duel threat approach and implemented Jennings over Rettig. I think Rettig had the tools to be solid in a pro style offense if someone in this organization had the slightest ability to develop a QB.

Jennings was a pro-style QB too.

the point was Les didn't even TRY a different QB to try to generate a spark on 1/9/12.

Nobody is saying for certain that Lee or Mett would've won that game, but damn, they didn't even get a chance. That's what's lingering.

Says Les, that's not a trustworthy source.
