Even Lane can't out recruit LSU while at Ole Miss.

Ole Miss in the last 2 years has had very good teams. But they still can not recruit at the level LSU does even with Kiffin. Lane has to find portal guys and that right there is the reason he will leave. It's also the reason he wants a commitment of NIL funds.

LSU doesnt have a coach and the class is better than what Ole Miss can do.

Lane wants to come to LSU, it’s pretty obvious. He just doesn’t wanna leave Ole Miss before they get into the playoff.

It really is a conundrum and an almost impossible decision for anyone to have to make.

I think you bring up a good, valid point. I agree that he's finally made the college football playoffs most likely....so surely he wants to see this through. It's a tough position for him if he feels Ole Miss would release him if they were to find out he's leaving.

You may be correct. I believe the OM AD said he would match any offer.

So, if you are Kiffin/Sexton, how do you do that?

You solicit yourself to UF and LSU. You send your ex-wife to look at schools and real estate to make this look real. And then Sexton gets offers.

OM... here is the highest offer. Wanna match it?

Just a thought.

But he may be mobile also.

It's not just Ole Miss. If he's going to LSU (or Florida) then either of those schools are going to want him there for national signing day.

Can't listen to the talking heads. The equation is simple Family + Career > Season.

We don't have a coach and our class is still much better than the class he has now while making a playoff run.

howbow honor the fricking contract that you've signed, do your fricking job, and stop all the whoring around?

I’m sure they do, but it’d be kind of foolish to punt on your top target based on a year 1 headwind.

The bigger issue is that you need to be protected in the event Ole Miss does go deep into the CFP - you can’t get into a situation where he changes his mind in January. So you really need the deal to be done, which probably means he bails early anyway.

Because that's just not how it is. Right or wrong.

When a better opportunity arises, most people are going to take it.

guess we have to define "better," at some point this is just an ego or dick measuring contest

Has to find portal guys? Or chooses to find portal guys?

Seems to be working for him.

I get your point but I don't necessarily see it this way. It could also be construed that it's everything he's worked for in his career up to this point.

Hard to measure for sure but I think most talking heads will and have said that LSU is the better job. For a multitude of reasons.

I don't know that I agree, a large number of the best players on this team are portal guys. Unfortunately recruiting doesn't mean what it used to, the portal is the new recruiting. If you are better in the portal recruiting does not matter. Argue LSU has more money but home grown talent means very little these days.

Cant complain about his ability to evaluate.

I think the only way he can is if his move is to NYG. NFL hires after CFB is over.

I meant it would be kind of foolish for LSU or Florida to punt on their top candidate based on fear about the year 1 signing class in the transfer portal era.

The lack of a spring portal window adds urgency but it’s not like every player who enters in December transfers immediately either.

In any case I think it’s a moot point because as I said before, I don’t think you can afford to wait until mid-January for a decision and I don’t know how likely Ole Miss is to let him stick around knowing he’s about to go to an SEC rival.
