re: Etling should never start another game at LSU...

I agree somewhat. I’d say once the season becomes a total loss (one more sec loss) then turn it over to Brennan. We definitely need to groom him and let him take his bumps and bruises so he can be a little more experienced for next year

Etling completion percentage is over 60% - Jennings around 48%
Harris - looking beyond horrible with a winless North Carolina team
Jefferson - his best skill was as a runner, not a real bad passer (for the record, people are down on him because of the way he played on 1/9/12)

Why does this have 46 downvotes?

Troll? He's right
Good young man but it's time to start looking towards next year.

Honestly I think both QBs should play. Etling is the safe choice, but O should not be thinking about being safe. Brennan will make a few mistakes but has way more ability. Better arm, quicker release, and a bit more accurate...

Crazy how Etling gets a pass by a lot on this board and Jennings, Harris, Jefferson didn't.
I guess it's because he's a guy that brings his lunch pale to every game.
Ahh, the OL race card.
GFY kid.

Etling is ranked 34th in the country in passer rating. 5th in the SEC. He has completed over 60% of his passes. He has only thrown one pick (a desperation chuck at the end of the Troy game). Myles has two in far fewer attempts.
Etling’s play is the least of our problems. The backup isn’t always better. It makes zero sense sending a lanky true freshman out there behind this OL to get eaten alive by SEC competition, especially when he’s the future of our offense.

Guess you ran out of Breaux Bridge guys to blow that were on the team.
You've always been a shitty, illiterate poster.

Etling played the worst out of any offensive player yesterday.

He'll (MB) get his snaps but there's still plenty to play for this year. Did you really think we would win the West? C'mon, this year was all about building for the future, particularly a really good 2018 class and a phenomenal 2019 class.
We have a lot of needs (particularly OL, then DL). A crap 2017 season gives opposing coaches negative ammo when recruiting against us. Why is that not obvious to you?
MB is going to be good, no question. DE gives us the best opportunity to win this year, which is very important. To say he shouldn't start another game this year concedes the entire season and takes for granted players like Devin White and Rashard Lawrence. The team deserves the best opportunity to win this year and that's with DE as the starter.

Harris may be worse at UNC than Lsu

Based on what? Limited action he's played? It doesn't matter who plays for QB for LSU every wants the backup to start.
This is not an endorsement of Etling. He is limited and has missed several easy throws yesterday. He can manage the game but I don't know if he can put the team on his shoulders and win a game if needed.

Perhaps you should study up on the word "interception " followed by the term "losing the turnover battle" before you support a guy that doesn't even know the playbook yet. Is he the future, yes...but this is just ignorant imo.

You thought there was no way LSU could beat UF. You were wrong then and you are wrong about Brennan.

Etling is trying to wait til the receiver is already open before he will risk throwing the ball. that isnt how routes work
it depends if it is a TIMING ROUTE or not. zone or man makes a dfference also. if it is man like on a cross or drag he can wait and just make sure he leads him. outs and corners need to be on time leading out the break...with zone you throw it in the hole. again the route type matters also.

I agree. Etling plays as well as he's capable of, but it's still not that good. He needs to ride the pine and let a winner (Myles Brennan) lead the way.

I really like Etling. He's not a a great qb but godamn does he sell out on every single play.
