If he surpasses both of those totals, then LSU may as well put an ad out for a new offensive coordinator now because Canada will get a head coaching job with a quickness.

Anything under 3000 would be a failure
Percentage completion is probably the most important stat

Agreed but what would help his numbers here would be if Guice gets those easy dump down passes and turns them into big gains!

I will settle for 60% completion and 50% on third down conversion

Since you wrote both I downvoted to say no.

I think he might hit either of these, but almost certainly not both.

yeah those dump passes to the RB will provide some major YAC yardage. Hopefully what we do see is more big plays coming from the passing game though. i.e. 30+yd completions

Yeah I would love for us to be able to stretch the field. No doubt this would just help overall with the offense.

Considering we've only had 2 quarterbacks ever throw for 3000 yards and 20 Tds in the same season (Mettenberger and Jamarcus), I'll take the under. I think 2500 yards and 15 TDs is more realistic. If he throws for 3000 yards and 20 TDs, we will win the west

That's a little too out of his reach.

1900 and 17 TDs is probably more reasonable.

We should probably need a deep talented offensive line. We don't have that. I think we will have to rely on the defense again.

We've had what, 3 QBs go over 3k in a season?

If he throws for 3k yards then Guice was underutilized this year. Idc how many years she throws for, we just need him to up his td's and protect the ball

I think he gets close and it's certainly possible. The two times we've had veteran QBs, with an offensive minded OC, we've hit that mark. I think it's more like 2500-2800 and he also gets close to 20 TDs as well. Great year for Etling would be, 2800 63% 20-26 TDs, with 8-10 INTs. Average year or realistic expectation would be more like, 2600 62% 15-18 TDs, with 6-8 INTs.

LSU will still be a run heavey offense which is our strength, so should be BUT we have to throw more then usual or unusually, like in different situations then the opposition is accustom to. So I think it boosts his stats some. Remember that shovel passes still count as a forward pass as well. We'll have much more short or high percentage passes then we've seen in some time.

It has to all come together and we have had some difficulty with putting it all together in the past. I'm hoping Canada is as good as advertised with installing coordinated offense in his first year, somehow simplifying it so that it sticks with the personnel in high stress game situations. Home and most importantly away. We have many tough away games this year so we'll see. I think he gets it all done.

I agree with this, be efficient when we do pass and score TDs when the opportunity comes. I actually believe the defense and ST helps get the offense into great positions this year so the stats may not have to be all that inflated to score points but we'll see what happens.

Canada fits his scheme to his players' talents. With Guice and possibly the emergence of CEH we will likely still be a run heavy team. He will change the scheme per opponent as well so in specific games, ie. Bama we would likely see the run/pass ratio shift to the passing game.

I think we will see something closer to the 2700 yd and 18 TD range.
