I'm good with that. Coach O is one of us and he can compete with anyone in recruiting. As long as he has good assistants and lets them do their job....frick the rest of the country.

i'm good with going 7-5 every year too

LSU fans criteria:

-Love the school
-Somehow find a way to hire top notch assistants with a huge budget.

If thats the only criteria, we shouldve kept Miles.

cash-strapped university, especially after Miles was paid a buyout of at least $10 million.

Can some ask Schlabach if this is true, then how can LSU, one of a handful of schools in the country, give millions from athletics to academics each year? They are not cash-strapped. The media is truly stupid.

Maybe he talked to F King.

As long as he can win I don't see a problem. If he doesn't it will work itself out, but what is the point of the article? Are they trying to make LSU look like a less appealing job?

I don't care of Pokey Chatman is the head football coach, as long as they are winning that's all that matters at the end of the day.. So that's why I don't understand the purpose of the article... Unless they are just creating content that will attract readers.

For financial reasons only he is the best hire. You save some of the assistants and get rid of that buyout. It's gonna take a major collapse to keep this from happening in my opinion. Alleva will have to find two new basketball coaches in the spring probably so he doesn't wanna tie up all his money in a football coach.

If that truly is his motivation - saving money for M/W BB - he's an idiot. If it takes more money to get the guy who is best for the FB job, you do it. The financial return there will offset the more expensive salary and likely increase the coffers of the athletic department as a whole, giving you the money to still find BB replacements.

Unless Coach O repeats some of the stupid Miles stuff there is 90% chance that he has the job.

There were already some substitution issues in the 2nd game.

how do you justify keeping Orgeron, presumably on the basis of the first two games and the rest of the season, but still think we will need a new OC?

Simple....recruiting.

As a hot shot high school offensive recruit do you want play for Steve Ensminger or Lane Kiffin? I'd be for keeping Ensminger as the QB coach maybe.

i chuckled at that guy's response.

the day that we go cheap for football bc of possible bball vacancies is the day that we stop taking football seriously at LSU.

Great, just what we need.

Pay $10 million to fire our coach so we can go cheap on the next hire.

Joe Alleva has wanted to do since the day he fired former coach Les Miles

Well, of he does, that would make his job a hell of a lot easier.

I don't blame him, I'd be inclined to hire Orgeron as well.

That said, if O loses more than one game, his chances should be pretty damn slim.

I love reading something somebody writes and know they have no idea what they are talking about.

Think of the logic. LSU cash strapped has the money to pay Herman or Fisher yet has to be worried about finances as a reason to hire O. This schmuck has no idea what he's talking about or how the finances of the AD work. Also, we didn't just pay a 10,000,000 buyout. That money is paid out over a number of years.

I'm cool with this if it happens. It will save me from ever having to shed one thought, second of time or one red cent to this worthless bunch again. If the end game to this whole thing is to fire Miles and pay him millions just to promote the d-line coach then this program is dead and not worthy of my attention. The one silver lining to this if it happens is that Alleva's days will be numbered once the program implodes.

if Joe's job is on the line with this hire, and all he does is elevate his DLine/interim head coach without doing his due diligence with an extensive search, then holy crap fire his arse.

you don't mark yourself as a serious program by going cheap.

He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. This discredits his entire article.

I can support that. Proven winner and we wouldn't have to worry about a repeat of the initial offense.

Two games, two major LSU offensive records. This is a good trend. I'm OK with this.

what's tougher to come across, a guy that can recruit or a greatly skilled Xs&Os guy?

Then this whole notion is dumb in general, just recruit and hire great assistants....Then WTF are we hiring him for? Fun press conferences?

Pretty much anyone we hire will be able to put together a great staff that can recruit because we pay....a lot.

Agree...I also never understood the people who said Miles should just step back and let his coordinators completely run things. If your contributions cause the people working under you to put out a worse product, you don't need to be "hands off", you need to be fired.

Our head coach needs to be the best on staff at some aspect of Gameday coaching. If he is worse at coaching football than both of his coordinators, then he needs to be replaced.

if this suggests that we keep ensminger and elevate him as full time OC, then...

there are OC's ripe for the taking all over the country.

If Coach O ain't the with the Tigers on Feb 1, 2017 and I don't see that unless he's head coach then kiss 3 big recruits good-bye ...our only 5 star committed and his buddy in Houston who's not committed but leaning towards coming to play for Coach O and another 4 star recruit...Coach O handling the recuriting and HC duties and someone like Art Briles and his son Kendal handling the offense LSU would be tough to beat!
