and whoever his partner is doing the game??? Damn, I miss the XM local broadcasts during the post season, you really realize how bad the announcers are when you don't have to listen to them till the bowl game or tournament. Just awful.

i totally disagree. I find hershiser refreshing compared to tha douche Kyle Petersen. Hershiser actually gives useful information. Mike Patrick is Mike Patrick. A little corny but overall ok.

Great. Way to start an original topic.

ESPN does this once a year, and you can tell the research is incomplete. LSU did not averge 400 more than the new Box holds. Also, they did not mention ONCE that T J Forrest used to play for LSU last night. The other night when Chad Jones pitched, there was no football video to be seen.
As far as the announcers, I like them. And we can't complain about the love they've given us.

quote:Yes, many others are "worse" than a guy who probably never saw LSU play before this week but still talked up LSU throughout the broadcast, couldn't say enough about several individual players, dissected a lot of the pitching nuances from both teams, and gave overall good color commentary.

Hey, LSU's one win away from the title series. It's time to bitch about the broadcasters!

I thought he did a pretty damned good job of explaining why the pitchers are over-pitching. I thought it was pretty interesting how he was talking about adjusting your release point and how arching your back can mess up the line of the pitch.
The only thing that annoyed me about both of them was the fact that they kept changing the players names. They never pronounced them the same.

Somebody on here will complain about the announcers, no matter who those announcers might be.
And that pic of Nolan Ryan pounding on Ventura is classic. I remember that like it was yesterday. That's why no one charged the mound when Ryan was out there.

Mike Patrick is worse than Hawthorne for mispronouncing names. He called Mainieri, Dave Mainieri on multiple occasions. He butchered Mahtook's name on multiple occasions. But the worst was when he said Blake Dean did a great job behind the plate tonight.

You have obviously never heard any of the Ole Miss broadcasters we have around here. Very biased and nothing Ole Miss does is ever wrong. I actually like Hershieser and Patrick. Mike Patrick really does know the game and Hershieser has done nothing but talk up LSU to this point, even up to saying that of all the teams they have seen play this week, LSU seems to be the only one that has all the tools and everything in place to be on top at the end. He could have eaten a bowl of Alphabits and then crapped what he was going to say the rest of the night after that and it still would have been a good broadcast to me.

I actually think we have the best commentators at the CWS this year. I don't like the way they mess up the kids names, and sometimes I wish they would just take a breath, but they have certainly shown a lot of love for LSU and their fans - and I like that a lot!!

i think orel has done a nice job. they mess up names, but its their first time seeing these 8 teams play

Ice, LSU fans aren't happy unless they're bitching about something.

One time they came back from commercial and said that Arkansas was in charge of the game 7-1.
But the truth be told, they were in LSU's corner all night. They even said that LSU looked to them to be the best team left standing and that they expect us to win it all.
All I could think about was that every high school baseball player in America with the dream of playing college ball was watching that game. Between the game itself and ESPN talking up our fans, our stadium, our attendence, our coach, etc. it was a wonderful night for LSU and it may pay dividends in the future for all those kids watching.
