re: ESPN Clip Etling sure sounds mature, hasn't face a crowd on the road like Auburn

I don't think any rational person thinks Etling is the second coming of John Elway, but to imply we shouldn't get excited by the vastly improved play at QB is silly. Furthermore, even if you wanted to convey that sentiment you should not say, "Pump the brakes". It's a phrase that is overused by people who try to act like they know something everybody else doesn't know (and they are usually wrong).
Pumping be brakes means "slow your roll" or slow down some on your expectations. Not what you claim it to be.
How many have called him "Etisiah" on here? MANY. Pump the freaking brakes and let's not get overly excited. Being excited is great JUST LIKE I SAID. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Here is a quote YOU failed to acknowledge or even offer a counter to it being irrational.
"However using 7 quarters of football isn't enough to gauge that." Have you seen enough with the quality of the opponent? Maybe I will be after this game or the next one. maybe you have already. I just don't know how confident I would be to bet on the Tigers to cover with our coaching staff and him at QB yet.
Typical kids changing what we started in my generation.

You have an odd idea of being in a better place. Your QB just threw 5 interceptions against Cincinnati!!!

To be fair, he's started games @Penn St, @Michigan St, and played Ohio St. at home.
He's seen big time football.

Etling played in post Sex Scandal Happy Valley. It was never full and never that loud.
96,000+ people went to that game. 2nd best home crowd they had that year behind their Michigan game.
FWIW.

I'm sure you're a blast at parties. You're the first one on the invite list every year.

This is exactly what it means AND it is overused (usually by people who are wrong). Look, I'm just trying help you out. The same way I would try to help out a guy who thought it was cool to wear a 'Members Only' jacket to a party. You can make your own decision whether or not to keep saying it.

I do not think the crowd is gonna ruffle him at all
Agreed. While at Purdue, Etling played at Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State amongst others. Not exactly a bunch of cup cakes. He also started at home against the likes of Ohio State, Iowa and Nebraska. Kid has faced some stalwart competition, with a very below-average supporting cast. He'll be just fine at Auburn.

quote:We're fans of the team, knucklehead. How much fun with Tiger Stadium be if all the fans kept an even Keel as you say? That's honestly one of the stupidest things I've ever seen posted on a message board.
What if he isn't the "etisiah" or as great as people are making him out to be. He reminds me on Hodson some, but I can't say I've seen enough to classify him as the next great thing. Keeping an even keel about things is EXACTLY what any coach or player will tell you is a key factor of success. How about let him be him and just manage the game by using the weapons he has available. He may end up being one of the best we've ever had. However using 7 quarters of football isn't enough to gauge that. If you want to use his Purdue time, then he is t what people are trying to say he is.
See how that works?
What exactly is ban able about asking people to not get too pumped and set too high of expectations on this kid?
That's how all the negative comments roll in when that happens.
I haven't seen anybody seriously say Etling is the greatest quarterback in LSU history. People are just trying to enjoy the games and the season as it goes along. Quit being such an inhibitor of fun.

I'm not against people being skeptical of Etling. It's just that phrase has been beaten more that Sarah Jessica Parker.

Pump the Brakes, Slow You’re Roll
Not Happening
2nd series Etling to Dupre on the 3rd down conversion, Etling threw the ball 3 steps before Dupre even made his brake out of the route the ball was right on the money.
Chark’s Touchdown: Etling looks off the free safety when the safety commits he picks Chark in single coverage streaking down the field throws it to the back of the end zone Touchdown.
You haven’t seen that kind of play out of an LSU QB in quite some time. This guy is the real deal.

Is it just me, but does Danny Ettling remind you of Matt Mauck from the 2003 season?
Etlings poise and his appearance some what reminds me of Tom Brady.

I like it, another is Etling the Gatling gun, capable of hitting multiple targets for LSU.

"Pump the brakes" makes it sound like Tiger fans haven't seen great QB play before, yes we have, and Etling has the makings of a great one, he will play in the NFL.

Although I doubt those crowds on the road got all that riled up for Purdue- at least not like the Aubies will be for LSU.

If you're excited about watching LSU play football, it means you support Miles, that isn't allowed.
If you're excited about owning a gun....... you know the routine, that isn't allowed.
