but it appears Lane Kiffin may be the guy they're predicting for LSU
I would be very happy if so.

Can you frickers let the first couple of games be played before you start calling for CEO to be fired?

Lil Lane is a punk.
In the paid part of the discussion on ESPN online, one of their reporters likely questioned Lane, and you know Lane was more than willing to offer something spicy.

Yeah, because there's absolutely no substantive performance on which to judge him so far.

Didnt Saban fire him because he had accepted a HC job?
quote:
When late Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis fired Lane Kiffin four games into his second season as coach in 2008, Davis said Kiffin had "conned me and conned all of you people."
When former USC athletic director Pat Haden fired Kiffin five games into his fourth season as the Trojans' coach in 2013, Kiffin was famously left behind on a tarmac at a private airport near LAX.
quote:
Honestly, they always seemed to be college football's odd couple since the first day Saban rescued Kiffin from the coaching trash heap. Saban seemed to be willing to tolerate Kiffin's immaturity as long as the Crimson Tide were scoring and winning, and Kiffin seemed to tolerate Saban's ridiculously long work hours and iron fist as long as it was going to help him get another head-coaching job.
quote:
According to sources, Saban fumed when Kiffin was several minutes late for a staff meeting in Tuscaloosa before the Crimson Tide broke for the Christmas holiday.
It wasn't the first time Saban had dealt with one of his coordinators taking a head-coaching job before Alabama's season was over. At the end of the 2011 season, offensive coordinator Jim McElwain was hired as Colorado State's coach. McElwain directed the Tide's offense in a 21-0 win over LSU in the BCS National Championship game before leaving.
quote:
Last season, defensive coordinator Kirby Smart was named Georgia 's coach before he directed Alabama's defense in a 38-0 win over Michigan State in a CFP semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic and again in a 45-40 win over Clemson in the CFP National Championship. In an interview with ESPN two weeks ago,
Saban said the transitions weren't a big issue in the past. "You do the best you can do to make sure everybody's doing their job the right way," Saban said. "I have no reason to think it's not being done the right way, but I still think that you don't really know until you go to play."
Clearly, Saban wasn't pleased with Alabama's offense in its 24-7 victory over Washington at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday. The Crimson Tide passed for only 57 yards and were penalized numerous times for delay of game and false starts.
quote:
In fairness, if this really was a mutual decision, we might have to give Kiffin at least a little bit of credit. Kiffin didn't have to watch film from the Peach Bowl to realize that he wasn't very good at trying to balance two jobs.
Even more than that, Kiffin's undoing was caused by what had often doomed him in the past: his immaturity and mouth.

Hate to say it, but I agree with The First Cut.
Kiffin is a cancer to a football program, and all the football genius in the world won’t outweigh that.
If Alleva gets fired and the new AD ends up looking for a coach, hopefully he won’t take the easy way out and hire Kiffin. Do some research.

That Al Davis statement doesn't really do much for me. Plus who cares if the guy flamed out in the NFL?
And based on your quotes im going to assume that you feel like Saban was firing Kiffin with or without him accepting the HC job at FAU and thats just laughable.

Absolutely. We were a top 3 program during the decade from 2001-2011
We can not and should not tolerate a 5-7 type season
Well, maybe just maybe at the end of this season, we can rehire GoodOleLess & immediately regain our top 3 standing. Then we can be heckled for having the DUMBEST coach back in the fold, the one not even a Division 111 program has seen fit to offer a job to since being tarred & feathered & ran out of BR. Jolly St Nick will be doing back flips when he gets the good news.

But he was a proven coach, it just wasn't good.

What's laughable is that you think that's why Kiffin was fired. McElwain and Smart were in the same situation and didn't get fired.
And if you think that a 17-12 PAC-12 conference record isn't flaming at USC then you just don't know football.

quote:Nope. He went 9-4. The bowl game counts in his record as you surely would have said 10-3 if they would have beaten Notre Dame.
Obviously 9-3 n year one if they don’t count interim stint.

the NCAA imposed sanctions against the Trojan football program for a "lack of institutional control," including a two-year postseason ban, the loss of 30 scholarships over three years,
So your telling me that if Kiffin didnt accept the FAU job he was going to be fired regardless?
Posted on 8/21/18 at 8:53 am to Greace
He was fired for failing to keep focus on the playoff run that Bama was in, as his predecessors were able to do.
Posted on 8/21/18 at 8:54 am to The First Cut
So basically he was fired for taking the FAU job?
Posted on 8/21/18 at 8:56 am to Greace
Ahhhhh, you're 100% right. Let's hire Kiffin.
Posted on 8/21/18 at 8:58 am to The First Cut
Nowhere in this thread did I say to hire Kiffin but you're kidding yourself if you think he wont get strong looks.
Posted on 8/21/18 at 9:03 am to Solo Cam
Really think that makes a difference? Then WTF did LSU go on the cheap and hire Orgeron?
Posted on 8/21/18 at 9:11 am to TrueTigerTale
Lane Kiffin will never coach here.
Alleva is gone after this year, and he knows it. He's already starting to save his Amazon Prime boxes for packing.
The new AD will not start his LSU career by rolling the dice on someone as unpredictable as Kiffin.
