That's why they're not going to huddle. It's going to take the coaches on the sideline and in the box so long to decide on play and personnel that they won't have time to huddle up before the snap.

I agree and actually think this is the fix.
I don't see how some view it as a good thing that our OC doesn't have his own offense but he's super good at calling plays from someone else's offense. The frick are we paying a middle man 800k for?

In fairness, they weren't talking about a game situation...
I kind of think of calling plays a lot like shooting pool. You have your next 2 or 3 shots in mind already. I don't think getting the play call in is going to be all that big of deal with those two side by side discussing it.

LSU football hasn't had an offensive identity in 12 years sans the few canada games where canada was actually calling plays.
uh, yeah we did.
nobody liked that identity, but we had one.

We absolutely had an identity.

If you’re trying to answer 2+2 =
And you keeps guessing 3 you’ll always be wrong
But if you guess 1, then 2, then 3 then ... 4
You’re eventually right.

It's pretty clear Brady is being groomed to take over the OC position when Ensminger retires, with this year being a transition year to get his feet wet under the guidance of a long time play caller.

So far to correct O's errors we've had to pay one guy a large buy out, give an undeserving guy a big raise, and now pay another guy to do that guy's job. Not exactly efficient

It sounds crazy when you say it out loud, but yeah.

O changing who he hires to fix the offense can work if he just runs into the right guy.
I'm just not fond of a coach not knowing what he really wants to do and just wanting something that works. As of now Coach O is basically telling people " I don't know what I'm doing with the offense, but I will keep making changes until I find something that works." What drives me crazy is that people actually applaud this trial and error method of finding an offensive identity.
Coach O was suppose to fix the offense in 2017, so in 2019 when the roster and schedule aligned for a championship run LSU has a proven identity to go with. Instead LSU is gambling their championship run with an untested identity led by a 29 year old who has never installed a system and never called plays.

I thought the part where they had to get unanimous approval from every position coach before a Brady play could make it into the play book was a little much:
The truth is everyone shouldn't have a say as to what plays make it into a playbook. That's the damn OC's job. He's delegating that too.

aybe Brady is great but the amount of people that believe it as fact despite really nothing to go off but interviews of people saying nice things about him....well that speaks to how effective a propaganda machine can be I guess
You ever thought that the guy might know what he's doing rather than all of these fantasies that you make up. LSU isn't the first team to employ a passing game coordinator. It's not the first time that LSU has employed a passing game coordinator. There's some extreme ignorance on display in this thread.

I like Slinger and this makes me like him more. No ego, just wants to win.

Ben, you helped me out this morning, buddy. When I run and start getting tired I try to think of something to squeeze another mile out. For some reason this morning I thought of how fricking strong you are and how hard you're fighting and it got me through about another mile and a half. So, thanks and I love ya, man. Hope today is a good for you. God bless.

Right and it’s worked out so well for us in the past why oh why would I ever be skeptical?

I like SE and think he does an excellent job in terms of reading situations. However, the playbook has been limited due to:
Interim year
Making the most out of a dreadful playbook (which I thought he did).
Year 1
OC issues...I bought into Canada, but it was fools gold imho.
Transitioning to a different offense mid-season
QB issues...DE was average at best
Year 2
Having a starting QB that wasn't even at Spring practice
Having major O line issues tied to defections, injuries, and inexperience
SE not having enough experience to institute the spread with any realistic chance of success. (Brady's hire seems to address this problem)
Year 3
Spread as an option - check
Better o line (on paper) - check
Above avg QB - check
Call me crazy, but I like the hire, I like SE, and I like our chances in 2019
10-2 is the floor this season. I expect either 11-1 or 12-0 (with quite a bit of luck). Just my .02.
