You wobble between anti-O and pro-O more than anyone I've ever seen...based on nothing more than emotion. It's weird.

I hope Ed wins big here. To my knowledge, only the U has had three consecutive coaches win championships (Schnellenberger, Jimmy, and Erickson). If for no other reason, that in itself would be cool.

But regarding the logic quoted in the OP, Curley led us to an even bigger upset over Bama in '93 after UF blasted us 58-3 at home. Just sayin'.

He may look dumb or sound a bit dumb, but it takes a certain level of smarts to convince Aranda to stay, Canada to come, and Alleva to give him a 12 mil buy out. And, to convince a team that's down by 20 to a team that was supposedly going to destroy them, to keep fighting. Call it what you will, but I think he's much smarter than he gets credit for being.

This reminds me of a comment made about former Clemson coach Danny Ford - "He may talk slow but he doesn't think slow."

dumbass. one season doesn't make a coach. Let's look at their entire coaching history. Orgeron really shits the bed compared to jimbo and Herman.

It's based on LSU's performance not emotion, I was never all Miles though I liked him, I was always all LSU. Same for coach O, that was an all around coaching victory by LSU against Aub, impressed anyone who knows football. So I'm back to sunshine pumping, sure makes for a happier day.

At the moment, I wouldn't trade coach O for either one.

Exactly, everyone lays it all on Alleva (which he does deserves everything hes been given) but I have to ASSUME that the Board as well as the LSU President also had to sign off on the contract. How in the name of all that is HOLY did no one stop and say "How fu*@kin much of a buyout are you trying to give this dude?" and then ask "aren't we basically giving him his golden egg, when most other programs wouldnt hire him as a GD coordinator just 2-3 years ago? O would take this job if we out a $1 buyout in yhe contract right?"

UNFUC*KING BELIEVABLE that this much fail made it through the entire board and was signes off on!!!!!!

I call bull shite on this, when it came down to actually being able to pull the trigger almost 100% of LSU fans would swap Jimbo for CEO w/o so much as hesitating. Now Herman may be more like 70% but the majority would still do it in my opinion.

I question the legitimacy of your survey, but if true you just found the .00000000001 who presently would not swap.

Wasn't a question of finding a solution, as much as having to coach so much youth and learning a new offense. Those two issues put together are a problem for any football team.

Reasonable individuals aren't judging a coach's worth on a week-to-week basis.

A couple of weeks ago you said you were done with Orgeron, now you think he's great?

I think you have to apply this type of justification to a young coach that's maybe just getting his feet wet not a 60 yr old veteran of the college football world. There's no probationary period for a coach like O.

I don't think he's dumb, I've just questioned openly if he has the skills to manage a program like this successfully as a permanent head coach.

Maybe I'm wrong and he does, we're going to find out.

Why couldn’t Saban come up with a solution to beat UAB in 2000?

Why couldn’t Lloyd Carr come up with a solution to beat App State in 2007?

Why couldn’t Dabo come up with a solution to beat Syracuse last weekend?

These aren’t even nearly the only examples. Why did those coaches lose to lesser opponents?

I honestly don’t know the full answer. But there are many more factors than just “The HC isn’t smart/good enough”. Sometimes all those other factors combine to be too much to overcome. Was I frustrated in both of our losses this year? Damn right I was! But, I’ve also seen improvement over the past two games. I’m holding my judgement of O until the season is over. Until then, I’m supporting the team because I’m a Tiger fan, regardless.

“Forever LSU.”
