Man, we just put CEH on the trash heap for a guy that hasn't played a snap yet. That's what we do to players here.

Serious question...Could Davis turn out to be better than Emery?
Sure he could. Look, every back that comes to LSU has a great highlight reel. But let’s face it, they are the best players on the field most Friday night
3 biggest things that are hard to judge high school backs on are:
1) vision. Holes close much faster in the SEC, where in HS you can just sort of get by on your athleticism
2) balance. Can you absorb a hit & continue to stay on your feet. Back to point 1; your set up to be hit more often with 11 SEC defenders across from you.
3)toughness. Do you have the ability to switch it into dawg mode & be the baddest dude on the field. Guice & LF had it. Jeremy Hill had it. A guy like Michael Ford was a freak, didn’t have it, for example. Sure look like he did in high school. It’s just hard to judge based on high school tape.
CEH has all these traits. While he might not have the athletic profile of Fournette, he gets the most out of his body. There’s no reason he cannot he every bit as good as Domanick Davis, for instance.

quote:there was a lot of excitement about him last summer too. He must have had a tell since the defenses always seemed to know when / where he was running.
Apparently he has blown up over the off-season (curry) and there is a lot of excitement about him from within.

CUrry is a short yardage back at best & is more likely to end up at FB than to ever be a feature back here

That is pretty good stuff.

How does that make me a tool?
I think we have 3 RBs on the roster today that are better than Curry. That doesn't mean I hate him or don't think he can't play somewhere else.

People overlook Clyde because of his height, but he will be the low man 99% of the time and has insane lateral cutting ability.
CEH HS Highlights
If you are spreading the field and creating 1-on-1 situations, Clyde is going to be an invaluable asset out of the backfield with his blend of power, balance, agility, and acceleration.

No I overlook CEH because he has no vision while running between tackles. He’s fine when he gets outside but he’s not fast enough to break away

He failed to take the starting spot from Brossette last year & while Brossette was decent enuf (1039 yds & 14 TD's) he was just an avg SEC RB at best.
I think this was about seniority more than anything. If you watch the tape of each guy side by side, Clyde played better than Nick. Clyde broke more tackles, made more guys miss, and hit the holes way harder than Brossette could. I think the coaches either felt like nick had earned his carries or that they felt like the ball was safer in his hands. Clyde was obviously the superior talent in my opinion.
ETA: Clyde is also better in the passing game, and if the spring game told us anything it was that we’ll be lining up with a RB in the slot a little bit.

Expecting him to be like Vincent’s freshman year and take over later in the season.

Agreed. I like CEH and im glad he's a tiger....but he's just a fallback option because we missed out on elite guys like Akers & Etiene in his class. Now that we have elite RBs again... Its time to move over.

I think people understand that highschool competition isn't the same as sec competition

Better than Sione Paleli

he would be the worst starting running back at LSU in decades,

Had more rushing yards as a Soph than:
Rondell mealey
Keiland Williams
Joe addai
Dominick Davis
Charles Scott
Justin Vincent
Jacob Hester
Stevan Ridley
Alfred blue
Terrence Magee
Kenny Hilliard
Darrell Williams
Rondell Mealey was behind Faulk and, for a brief while, Cecil Collins. I think his numbers would have come up had we not been stacked.
Hester, Scott, and Ridley waited their turn.
My biggest concern about CEH isn't his current production, it's his size. I don't think he's big enough to be the primary workhorse. He's like an advanced version of Magee.

CEH was not outplayed. Brossette is the softest RB LSU has had in 2 decades.

He is already projected by some to win the Heisman before he leaves LSU
Just curious, who is projecting this already?
