Dear Dr Baker,
I just want to thank you for the love and care you had for Mike. You are an amazing doctor who put countless amounts of your time into Mike and us as LSU fans appreciate that. I just want you to know that we are praying for you and Mikes caretakers because we know this has to be hard for you as it is for us. I hope you aren't hard on yourself about it because you did an exceptional job at taking care of him and trying to cure him. Thank you so much for everything you have done! You have a huge amount of courage for what you have gone through the past few months.

Thank you Dr. Baker with love and respect,
LSU Nation

He responded with "Thank you all is well"

One strong man

I hope someone accidentally fat-fingered that single downvote. If not, wtf is wrong with you?

I think that is a robo response. I got the exact identical response literally 6 seconds after emailing him myself to thank him for his compassionate care he provided Mike and to offer my sympathies for the loss.

Thank you. Just sent him one as well.

Good Morning Dr. Baker,

I just wanted to thank you for not only taking care of Mike but also for being aware enough to not let him suffer. I can only imagine the pain and agony that goes into making such a decision. I applaud you for doing what was best for Mike. I also can't thank you enough for doing everything in your power to aid in his recovery. Mike went out fighting like a true LSU tiger. My prayers and thoughts are with you and the staff responsible for Mike. Please take this email as a token of my gratitude for your service to Louisiana State University and Mike VI.

Forever LSU,

There were threads on the SEC rant giving us condolences on Mike's passing and they were getting downvoted too.

I believe those in support of PETA are responsible for the downvotes.

It's not a robo response. He just sent me "thank you" in response. He's reading the emails.

I can attest to that. I emailed Dr. Baker this morning and he replied. He's reading all of the email himself.

I'm not going to post what I wrote or what his reply was.....

My entire family is as liberal as they come and we all think PETA is awful and want to see the tradition of Mike on campus continue. Don't lump us in with those zealots.

As someone who leans further left than the vast majority of this site, I agree. There's a difference between being left of center and being straight looney bin crazy. PETA's stance on this matter falls under the latter. And it really doesn't even have to do with the tradition aspect. What LSU does for its Mikes is a great thing. These cats, at least Mike VI, were either born or largely raised in captivity and are given a FAR better existence than what they would have had in their prior lives. Mike VI, if I'm not mistaken, had never seen grass or a body of water before coming to LSU and was given absolutely top-notch medical care and attention that would make many humans jealous. These are fun facts that PETA chooses to ignore in order to straddle the company line. Pretty disgusting, IMHO.
