This would be asinine. If you don't like the current product, then don't watch it.

Man, this line is frustrating to read, over and over. What if every time you voiced your displeasure over something that is happening in a game, somebody told you "if you don't like it, don't watch it"?

Can a person like a game or a sport, while not liking a part of it? I don't want the get rid of the three, either, but the game lacks imagination with how MANY threes are taken. when there is balance, the three makes it more exciting. It isn't very balanced right now.

No man! We only have a FEW white guys that can dunk now. You will destroy their self esteem.

I'm not for eliminating the 3 point shot, however I do believe the 3 point line needs to be pushed back in college basketball.

I am of the opinion it would have a great impact on the number of 3 pointers attempted per game and thus force teams to find a way to work for a higher percentage shot.

It's either continue with the "mid-range" 3-pointer or watch even more guys lunge into the defensive player to get a foul called. Pick your poison.

I think we should add a five point line in addition to the three point line

Point taken. The 3 pt heavy style of play used to seem to come in cycles, but is now more consistent. The game has changed.

TBH, it was turning into a bit of a freak show - who can get the biggest behemoths on the court...

The game is to shoot the ball into the basket, not just hand it to Chief to reach down and put the ball through the hoop.

I could possibly get behind limiting the number of 3 point shots a team could take per half to maybe 8. Teams would then have to be more selective in their use.

One of these two things needs to happen in order for LSU to make the jump to the next level of NCAAM basketball:

1) eliminate 3-pt shot. We just can't make them like other teams.
2) outlaw zone defense

Indeed it has. I really do miss the 90's and early 2000's style of play. For one thing, if you're a fan of any team, it's nice to have dominant post play, when the outside shots aren't falling. You don't have to hold your breath quite so much, hoping your team doesn't go ice cold.

This was put in to give the "little" man an equal chance to score....I guess we could have put the goal in the floor....

If you watched the guys that I mentioned, and didn't appreciate the all around SKILL they had, I'm not sure what you were watching. What you described sounds like the big men today who AREN'T shooting threes. They just find the tallest guy they can, and hope he can clean up the garbage.

The players I described DID put the ball in the basket, and at a much more efficient rate. Isn't THAT the point?

And I'm not saying it was just the big men. You had great guard play, too. But those guards were, on balance, higher in basketball IQ.

Part of me doesn’t like a shot being worth 50% more than another shot that’s just 1 step closer to the basket...but it really opens up the game and makes it waayyy more fun and exciting. Let’s please not go back to the 50’s and 60’s. do you also want to get rid of the shot clock?

Maybe I was just focused on Shaq. Dude couldn't hit a FT much less a 3.

Don't get me wrong, I love Shaq, but c'mon, the guy was just a shot-blocking, dunking giant. I cringed every time he put the ball on the floor.

...But I was also watching refs giving guys like Jordon a Euro step.

I say go for maximum entertainment value.

35 second shot clock. If you make a shot within:

First 30-35 seconds: 5 points
20-30 seconds: 4 points
10-20 seconds: 3 points
0-10 seconds: 2 points

The 3 point shot was put in because it leveled the chances for teams playing against "trees." Back before the 3, the bluebloods stacked their rosters with all the 7 ftrs out there. I remember UK starting two 7 footers.

The 3 pt shot adds a lot of excitement to the game for the fans.

I am for eliminating the 3 pointer today though as my UK Wildcats go up against Auburn...

I think a better rule change would be to make 3pt shots an automatic turnover regardless of if the shot is good or not. This wouldn't remove the 3pt shot but would make it far less common and an even riskier option.

IMHO, the NCAA should use the FIBA court dimensions:

22-ft, 1.75-in three point line, vs current 20-ft, 9-in NCAA line.

Trapezoidal lane.
