E has no ability to outdo any of the top SEC defensive coaches and teams. Furthermore, if E can't handle implementing whatever offense the head coach wants, he shouldn't be the OC.

I get the feeling that if Things pan out Braby will be OC in his 3rd year.

When burrow said that he also had an extremely sly smile afterwards, so he might have been lying to the media to make it harder to plan around. So there is that

Why did he hire Ensminger?

I'm hoping you just misheard. Strange for the head coach to admit he hired an OC that can't install the offense he wants.

This is part of the problem. I'm not convinced O knows what kind of offense he wants. If you look back at this quotes going back to 2016 you'll find about 5 different answers on his vision for the offense. Maybe Brady and whatever he's doing will be the answer. I hope so, because at some point we need to establish an offensive identity as a program

Ensminger is a good but not great offensive coach, and at his age and making the money he's making, he has no ego and could give a shite about getting the praise. He's happy to have Joe Brady in the mix.

I think he's a solid play caller. I liked what we did on offense on a few occasions last year - UGA of course comes to mind. We mostly moved the ball with ease and kept the UGA defense on their heels all game, though our red zone execution was lacking. He seems to be lacking perhaps in his ability to adjust in-game and in actually devising his own offense. We had some really impressive early game scripted drives last season, to my memory, but things would start to deteriorate as the game went on. Maybe he's perfectly suited for pushing the buttons on an offense largely designed by someone else, which seems to maybe be the arrangement going into this year. We shall see

Plenty of us have said this. We still realize Ensminger is the play called though. Hopefully he isn't against going aggressive a lot more often.

I don't think it's necessarily a secret playbook, but why talk about everything before the season even starts? Hell they might go all out against Georgia southern since Texas will only have a week to prepare.

I've been saying this for a while, and I'm sure others disagree. It seems to me like Coach O doesn't have an offensive identity he wants to mold the program to. All he wants is an offense that works. Doesn't matter if it's pro-style, spread, power, etc. As long as it works. I appreciate his willingness to change(especially after Miles), but when we were told LSU was finally going to fix the offense I kinda hoped they were going to go with a proven offensive system. Instead it seems like they try something new each year and pray it works.

I know this year is "different", but what you are saying sounds eerily familiar to what has been said the past few years around this time. New offense in camp that they don't want to give info on. Then after the first couple games people start saying LSU is playing will a vanilla offense to save things for SEC play. Then SEC play rolls around and everyone finally realizes
the offense is a disappointment.

Ensminger had most of the right plays, but he did not have all of the right reads for those plays. Brady has used most of the same concepts, but changed who they will read on the defense for the RPO schemes.

He also mentions that this is JOE BRADY'S offense with some of Ensminger's wrinkles in it.

So it's Brady's offense but Ensminger's calling the plays?

We know he doesn't want to be one dimensional and his vision is to be more multiple with spread concepts. I think he is looking for a balanced attack and the ability to dominate an opponent through the air or on the ground. If a defense shuts down one we will be capable of winning with the other...in the past teams shut down our run and we were screwed.

Bc E has shown no ability score points against Alabama. Id prefer someone who can scheme against elite defenses when we are outmanned in the trenches. Someone who can keep the opponent from just pinning their ears back and coming after us.

No disrespect to the guy, but E has shown he’s not that playcaller
