I know. If you read my previous post, i explained why i dont think that model will sustain with him.

He’s a world class recruiter and motivator.

Define world class….because id say saban is a world class recruiter. And if O isnt pulling in top 2 classes every season, i dont think its world class, id say its just really good

I get your point completely, friend. And I agree coach O has successfully made people forget about Ole Miss. just pointing out that it isn’t a double standard for a very obvious reason.

I can live with that. Just irks the heck out of me when people STILL hold Ole Miss against him yet act like Saban is this unbeatable god who has never failed or lost anywhere he’s ever gone.

Amen brother. Ecause they are some whiny little bitches. Ed O will be the coach ar LSU for a long time. The lil bitches might as well get used to it or be a fair weather fan for some other program.

It’s not. There’s a huge difference, but you knew that.

Yes. 7 nattys at 2 schools is the big difference.

With EO we don’t yet know whether 2019 was just some sort of miraculous anomaly.

By any objective measure, so far, 2019 is the outlier

Most of the fan base behaves like middle school kids who cry when they don't get their way.

He coaches no side of the ball. His strengths are recruiting, listening to his coaches, and i guess hiring coaches. And that last one is hardly a strength. Recruiting, while a good strength, hasnt been a problem here in over 20 years. The model of him hiring and delegating the work to coordinators is tricky and can only work if he nails hires on both sides of the ball. And if it works, he will have to do it every 2-3 years on both sides. He hasnt shown to be consistent enough in that respect for this to past more than a couple more years.
All of this
- Is he really a world class recruiter? All he's done is kept up with the status quo of LSU recruiting for the past 20 years. Also part of the reason we were so bad last year is because some of his early recruiting classes have fallen apart.
-a lot of fans like CEO because when something doesn't work he changes it, which is an opposite of Miles. However he shouldn't get brownie points for changing when he constantly has to because he makes bad decisions.

There's no disdain for Coach O. But there are people that have come to realize that if an idiot like Les Miles can get top 5 classes and win here, then it doesn't take an amazing coach to do what Coach O is doing. You can sleep walk into 8-4/9-3 at LSU.

1. At the time of his hiring, he was woefully under qualified. Literally no other major school and probably only a very small handful of smaller schools would have even considered him.

2. He lost to Troy

3. Yes, the 2019 season was a thing of legend and no one can take that from him.

4. He followed that with one of the most embarrassing seasons in school history. He clearly thought 2019 meant he could lay back and stop working and came into last season totally unprepared.

5. His hiring of assistant coaches has been abysmal. The only one that worked out was Brady. Time will tell of the new guys are good or not, but Ed’s track record isn’t good.

6. This year will tell us if he can really do the job or if, like many of us fear, 2019 was a fluke that Ed lucked into.

7. He is a PR nightmare. Allowing pics to float around of him shirtless and in bed with some tramp just before last season…. Among others dumb things he’s done and said

That said, I don’t hate him. I just don’t think he is a very good coach but I’d love for him to prove me wrong this year and at least contend for a title.

Of course i do. But thats not realistic.
You started a thread asking a question, i answered it. You dont like the answer so you proceed to antagonize posters who disagree and act like a child. So i guess this wasnt a thread where you wanted a real discussion. You just wanted to bitch.

I fully support and like Coach O. However, last season was a mess. Can’t wait for the rebound in 2021.

Before Covid, Ed O had a winning season every year with continued improvement every year. Improvement until the highest point you can get.
Then the world goes absolutely upside down and he loses half his damn team and goes 5-5. But yeah the Covid year wasn’t the outlier. Give me a break.

It’s not just that we had a bad season. The culture was absolutely toxic, and that starts at the top.

He certainly has earned the right to redeem himself, but he did about the worst job you could do managing the team and his coaching staff last year.

Not really, no.

The Troy loss was bad. No disputing that. But every program goes through an ugly growing pain. It led to greatness. Who gives a rats arse about whether or not he was qualified back in December of 2016. If his hiring is so bad, why has he won so damn much. He’s not Les.he’s definitely an improvement. Idgaf who he sleeps with as long as wins. Neither should you. The man was going through a divorce.

don't think this board hates coach O. They just wanted him to hire better coordinators (Bo Pelini ). Time will tell.

It’s a laundry list of horrible hires, Canada, Cregg, Pelini, Linehan, etc. that failed miserably and cost LSU millions. O needs to show he can win big with Aranda and Brady out the building. You be shocked at how anemic O’s SEC record is without either on staff.

Additionally, his all too frequent foot in mouth comments like “better defense than 2019, Gilbert has body aches, back to Brady’s offense (why did we get away from it?)” erode fan trust in his judgment.

We’re all hopeful the new hires work, and so far message out the building is upbeat but it also serves to remind that O is dependent on their success because he’s not a schematic game planning coach.

The culture was toxic. But it was worse before he got here under Les. All I’m saying is give the man the benefit of the doubt. We’ve had worse. Farrrrrrr worse. Bunch of spoiled rotten children.
