What makes next year any different?
O lost the team

The dramatics amongst our fan base is downright embarrassing.

At least he didn’t win his title with 2 losses.

and Miles played for a second with an undefeated team. Miles will have a better winning percentage overall against a FAR better resume. The SEC West was the toughest conference top to bottom just about every year Miles was HC. Look, I wanted Miles long gone, but you cannot deny facts - Miles was better against better competition for his career as HC at LSU than any other unless O can pull something out his arse these next couple years.

Cool...championships are what matter. Not a perennial 8-4, 9-3, 10-2 program.

This year we returned 5 starters. Next year should return 3x that many.

Next year we likely have the same coaching staff (like it or not) and a full offseason to get now veteran players acclimated.

We are currently sitting on the #3 recruiting class and in the last 2 weeks picked up the #1 and #2 safeties in the country. We are likely to pick up the commit from 5 star DT Maason Smith and lead for the #1 player in the country DE Korey Foreman. We have a lot of instant impact freshmen if the class stays intact and projections remain accurate.

There is no certainty, but I feel confident that 2021 will be a very good year, the same way I felt 2020 wouldn't.

LSU had four very weak non conference games in 2008. They went 3-5 in the league that year. What would’ve 2008 been with an all conference schedule?

let me end this shite argument right here. You can admit you are wrong OR not reply. What LSU coach has the best winning percentage against the best teams for their career? Consider the ranking of the SEC WEST ALONE AND ADD UF with Urban there and their championships. Also throw UGA who was ranked pretty high that Miles had to beat.
If you throw out 2011 and 2019 and compared blind resumes, who has had the better career considering the competition? Miles actually would be higher than Saban when he was here and nobody would want to admit that. 2011 was all Miles players FWIW and ha had to beat Saban twice, name me one coach that had to do that TWICE in the same season these last 13 years?

no dumbass. That is not all that matters spin doctor. He played for 2. Went undefeated for one season until having to beat Saban twice in the same season. Name mr a coach that has tried to accomplish that?

Well this is a complete shite argument to compare coaches with over 10 years of tenure to one with three. We'll see what happens moving forward, but at this point in time yours is a complete shite argument.

Wouldn’t have lost by 40 to auburn or mizzou or missy st

The 2008 team was blown out multiple times (UF, OM, UGA) and lost to a bad Arkansas team, not to mention did everything they could to lose to Troy. Go look at the final records of the teams they beat. The 2008 team was real bad.

O has had 4 recruiting classes. The roster is his.

yea, Jimbo's terrible - A&M is 5-1 and ranked no. 5 (after already having played Bama and Florida). Looking at the rest of their schedule they'll probably end up 9-1 or 8-2.

The goal is championships at LSU. Anything else you’re telling yourself about moral victories is the reason Les was fired. He accepted mediocrity and underperforming your talent level and refused to change.

I guess we'll just ignore Orgeron's 15-0 season and Jimbo's 4 and 5 loss seasons. Seems fair.

we know.
this one is undoubtedly worse.

2008, LSU finished #32 in total defense.
2020, LSU is sitting at #111 in total defense.

what about offense? Is 368 ypg good? That defense finished 9th in yards allowed in the SEC and 11th in points allowed.
Out of 12 teams, is that supposed to impress me?

give us 4 layup OOC games this season and it's marginally worse. That 2008 team won 7 games in the regular season with wins against App State (FCS), Tulane, Troy, and North Texas. Their SEC wins came against 5-7 Auburn, 4-8 Miss State, and 7-6 South Carolina. (Auburn and State finished tied for last in the SEC). Give us those 4 OOC games this year, we're a 6-7 win football team just like the 2008 team was.

No you weren't, but the fact that Jimbo went 5-6 in 2017, 9-4 in 2018, and 8-5 last year probably means we didn't need to pay him $75 million to replace Les Miles. What you were told is he wasn't worth his price tag because he wasn't.

what does that have to do with saying this DC hire is equal to Maleveto?
which is how this entire conversation started.

Mississippi State #106
Vandy #103
South Carolina # 99

are all worse offenses than
Rice #52
UTSA # 82
Texas #39

Missouri # 79 is marginally better than UTSA

what the frick have you seen so far from this defense that makes you think we would hold any (let alone all) of those teams to a low enough total to make a noticeable difference?

this is far and away the worst defense LSU has fielded in at least 22 years.

O gets one more year because of Covid. If this was a regular year he would be out like like Chizik

That being said, I know he would never want to stay on the staff but would still like him to stay around as Recruiting Coordinator
