That being said, I know he would never want to stay on the staff but would still like him to stay around as Recruiting Coordinator

what does that have to do with saying this DC hire is equal to Maleveto?

when did I say that?

which is how this entire conversation started.

I don't care where or how the conversation started.

Mississippi State #106
Vandy #103
South Carolina # 99

are all worse offenses than
Rice #52
UTSA # 82
Texas #39

Missouri # 79 is marginally better than UTSA

what's your point?

quote:

what the frick have you seen so far from this defense that makes you think we would hold any (let alone all) of those teams to a low enough total to make a noticeable difference?

What about anything I've posted makes you think this comment makes sense as a response?

quote:

this is far and away the worst defense LSU has fielded in at least 22 years.

Again, what's your point? I was responding to the comment that the 2019 LSU TEAM is "undoubtedly" worse than the 2008 TEAM. (It's not, it's marginally worse, if any)

2008, LSU finished #32 in total defense. 2020, LSU is sitting at #111 in total defense.

at this point it's pretty dumb to compare an entire season to one with teams that have only played 1 game

Lol what? Orgeron took over a roster he was the recruiting coordinator for.

Are you serious?
You believe the recruiting coordinator is responsible for a recruiting class?
Wonder why they aren't paid as much as HC.

We don't need a new DC making millions, fire the RC and hire the RC at Georgia. We could probably hire him for a Mil a year.

Ed shitting his pants royally this year has nothing to do with Miles no matter how hard you defend him.

ok, we were 71 out of 76 before adding those teams to the mix.

that’s actually closer to last than we are now.

I don't know how it is possible that there are people in this thread who act like the 2008 season was anywhere near as bad as this current one. That takes extreme willful ignorance.
And how much ignorance must you have to think ANY season compares to this one. The NCAA didn't give out an extra year of eligibility for no reason.

I guess we'll just ignore Orgeron's 15-0 season and Jimbo's 4 and 5 loss seasons. Seems fair.
I'm not ignoring anything. O gets full credit for 15-0.

But 2019 may be an outlier based on Burrow and Brady. Time will tell if that's true, but having one magical year where the stars align is far different than building a consistent championship-level PROGRAM.

Again, time will tell.

Want to count the NFL players O inherited?
Dont be an idiot.

O inherited a Gold Mine. Other than Lincoln Riley and Ryan Day, who inherited a better program in the last 15 years?

In the last 15 years, as in 2005 going forward? Kirby Smart, Dan Mullen (UF), Les Miles (LSU), Jimbo Fisher (twice), Will Muschamp (UF), Urban Meyer (OSU), Mark Helfrich (Oregon), Rich Rodriguez (Michigan)

Those were at least on a comparable level as what LSU was when Orgeron took over

the malveto defense was like the 86 bears compared to this defense

which one of these were in the top 2 less than 12 months before before they took over?

go ahead i’ll wait.

because either the team was so talented that even Les Miles was able to ride them to #2.
or
the roster was crap and Les was a phenomenal coach to get them that damn high.

pick one.

Seriously, he just won a national championship with arguably the greatest team in college football history.

So we'll just forget that after he was in the top 2 he lost three straight games by blowout and lost 2 more games in his first 4 the following year. This isn't about which team was ranked in some arbitrary week in a season. It's about the state of the program and talent available when the next guy took over.

If only life was so black and white

How bout Les crapped out, again, and ended up in the Texas Bowl and then started the next season 2-2 with basically the same team.

I see you totally ignored the other programs. You know, because it kills your argument. Orgeron took over a program that Les was slowly letting die, and the lines on bot sides of the ball depleted with no QB (shocker) and an offense that had to be completely rebuilt.

If you think the program Orgeron took over was the best program, top to bottom, the past 15 years from day one on the job, then you live in your own special little bubble. The Les Miles apologists that still exist are simply amazing.
