I'm looking through the record book, and don't see any records on hit by pitch. He tied for the lead in the nation at 33. Just curious if anyone knows if this is a school record? .464 ob%, thank you for your service sir.

Update:I was able to find the NCAA record book through 2019. It's a school record and third highest in history since they started keeping track in 2004. 37 is the single season record.

Pretty sure one of the Jordan's has a HBP record. Or led the country in HBP one year. Can't remember.

I don’t get why Dugas got hit so much. It wasn’t just clipping him, he’d get beamed in the back and shite. Wild

Looks like Bryce got hit 23 times in '16. If that was the record, it got obliterated.

68 for his career.

Beau and Bryce Jordan were 26 and 34 respectively.

Cade got a taste of what it was like for Dugas leading off and getting HBP right out the gate...

I don’t know what it is about HBP and why some get HBP so much more. I think they just don’t try to avoid the pitch. Most batters instinctively try to avoid it.

My nephew played college ball and led off for most of the season and he got plunked so much. He made no effort to get out out of the way. Sometimes twice in one game and if I’m not mistaken I think got HBP 3 times in one. It was insane.

Cade led off and channeled his inner Gavin Dugas and got plunked twice.

Most of our team does a combination of being close to the plate, and then feet planted and not moving.

Also our guys were so good at barreling up anything out over the plate you have to come inside to attack them and when you do that hit by pitch goes up.

Dugas was a combination of the leadoff batter, with a pitcher just starting a game and trying to get into their groove, so maybe a little wildness, plus he makes no effort to avoid the HBP.

I always thought part of it was the scouting report on him was to pitch him inside.

And other things mentioned previous.

That plays into it, a lot of our guys you have to get in on.

Tommy and Dylan had similar have to throw in but they would move more since they were extra base hit machines.

Did LSU set a team record this year? Sure seems like we should have at least scared the record.

This has been a directive since JJ got here. He literally coaches it.

Good post. I was gonna say it was a combination of him standing right on top of the plate, being short and having a smaller strike zone, being a threat to launch one into or over the bleachers and pitchers not wanting to miss over the plate, and his willingness to stand in there and wear it. All contribute to him specially being a magnet, but also the general approach to most of the other guys getting hit more often as well. Little room for pitchers to miss. Miss too far outside and we’ll take it for a ball. Miss over the plate and it gets barreled up. Miss too far in and we get hit and take our base.
