He stays hurt. If he he has a fixable knee problem, he needs to get that done.

Good for him! No sense in risking injury in a meaningless game. Hope he is drafted and has a long NFL career.

The guy has terrible knees. Will he get drafted? Maybe. But I think his goal is to get on a practice squad and make 6 figures as long as he can. I hate seeing juniors leave early that won’t be drafted top two rounds but I actually understand this one. Anyone who doesn’t isn’t seeing the full picture.

Oh and yea college is free but he is a junior. He probably only has 45 hours or so left. He can pay for that with student loans worst case that he doesn’t make the nfl.

I fully expect to get down voted but I get it with him. very rare exception.

Still shite of him to do it like this without even talking to the coach. That’s what people should be mad about

There’s a chance he’s a UDFA?

Yea, damn good chance.

Coach O talked to him Friday I believe, him and his family know the risks. He is not naive and knows the situation. We wouldn't be having this discussion if he didn't spend have his career here with knee injuries. Its unfortunate but I think its better option for him.

Edit: His grades weren't very good, on the verge of being ineligible from what I heard. I quite frankly don't think its the SMART option but he has no choice but to take a shot of making a nfl team.
I didn't know he was suspended if it was true, but hey what can you do.

But it just doesn’t make any sense. If he’s always hurt no NFL team is gonna pay him to stay hurt. Not to mention the guy has 58 tackles and 2 sacks to his name

I'm just messing around.

Ed won't be drafted. He'll end up on a practice squad for two years and then be done with football.

Because he can always get his degree later. If he gets on a practice squad, he can earn at least $125k a year plus benefits.

You realize how fricking stupid that is? I know for a broke college kid that sounds like a lot but it isn't. Practice squad careers are measured in weeks and months, not years. And he won't have money to go by the credits later that he could have gotten for free.

I hope he proves us all wrong, gets a league minimum contract, survives for four years and gets paid. But this on a Trev Faulk / Malachi Dupre level of stupidity. And he's hurting the team.

Being cut 7 months after signing a zero-guaranty UDFA contract is gonna work out great.

What an idiot

We simply will never win in the SEC when these kids keep leaving early

We cannot compete without upperclassmen

SO he will make 250k in two years. NFL won’t risk drafting him, but they absolutely will risk a practice squad spot. It’s only 125k for them. Nothing for them, but for Ed that’s great money.

Is this for real? He's throwing away his college career and a chance to get a degree while having his food and housing paid for for the chance to go make $6,000 a week until he gets hurt. What a joke!

The benefits are amazing too. Pension and really really good insurance. I hate to lose him but in his case, I can’t say I blame him. He’s probably already spoken to a few teams who said they would take him either late or undrafted if nothing else as a practice squad guy.
