Saw a couple of mock drafts that had him not getting drafted. He apparently sprained his ankle toward the end of the visitation period...wonder if that had any effect? Would completely suck if he went undrafted (though somebody would pick him up.) Unlike Naz, I don't know that staying would have upped his stock a whole lot...unless he grew a couple of inches, which isn't happening.

I hope the pels take him in the second. I think he could be a good spark plug off the bench.

5'9" guards who can't shoot NBA 3's aren't in big demand.

I think he gets drafted mid 2nd round.

I hope he does. I agree, him staying wouldn't have really upped his draft stock, where Naz could have moved way up if he had stayed another year and showed improvement. He has high first round skills, but lacks toughness and effort.

Um... Waters has excellent range. He’s also a very good shooter when he takes good shots.

One of the knocks on him is poor shot selection, but that was by design in 17/18. Last year he likely just carried some of his bad habits from the previous season when we had no other threats so he was relied upon to score and encouraged to shoot recklessly.

He can fill it up from 30 feet when he’s on his game.

I’m betting he goes in the top-50 picks and makes his NBA debut next season. I don’t think he’s on the roster to start the season, but I can definitely see a call-up from the G League once injuries open up roster spots.

Of all the weaknesses in his game, range is not even remotely one of them.

Would love for Pels to get him with one of the 2nd round picks.

NBA game is a lot different than the college game and it's really hard to project those future pros when you get past the lottery. His size is the big drawback and I think Waters thinking through all of this is if NBA or G league is out of the question, take it overseas to earn some money.

Not to mention there were times last year when the offense flowed better with Smart and Mays on the floor.

Waters was great at LSU but with his size I doubt he gets drafted

Well this is just a dumb take. He has/had the most range we have seen from an LSU guard in a while. Not to mention he had one of the top 2 shooting performances at the NBA combine.

Please stick to baseball. You at least know what you are talking about there.

Naz. but lacks toughness and effort.

Toughness yes but his effort level should never be questioned if you watched him play

I would say there is less than a 50% chance he gets picked, but you never know. Vanvleet's success in the NBA finals may help his cause though. Now, Vanvleet is stronger and a better defender, but Water's court vision and savvy is something that can't be taught. Perhaps a team can see him in a VanVleet type of role.

No one is going to pick him to be their starting PG. But he has enough skill to make him worth a flyer to see if he can develop as a backup.

I definitely thinks he gets drafted. He might be small in stature but he's quick, good passer and has a good outside shot. NBA also looks for players who can break down other teams and score easily on fast breaks and he fits that mold.

He averaged 32.7% from the 3 point range last season and that's with a 3-point line that's 3 feet closer to the goal than in the NBA and with mostly non-NBA talent defenders in his face.

In NBA stat parlance, 32.7% is considered a "Low-Efficiency Gunner" in the NBA.

because his shot-selection was god awful. But he has NBA range, don't kid yourself otherwise.

What the hell are you talking about? Tremont had one of the highest percentages from 3 during the combine by shooting 88% (22-25) during the 3pt drills.

He certainly can shoot especially wide open in a combine setting. But his shot selection in-game is fricking poor as shite

Consider as a Freshman shot 29% from 3 in sec play

And this past year, first 10 games 27%, last 10 games 29%. Hrs inconsistent as hell and needs a complete overhaul his game to a pass first guard
