Perkins was a projected Day 1 pick. Then he blew out his knee. Had he declared he’d still be a 2nd, mayyyybe a 3rd rounder but he wasn’t dropping farther than 3 post injury with nothing else. IMO Perkins is coming back, to prove to NFL that he is just as good as he was and will solidify Day 1 status again. Assuming he doesn’t get hurt he’s top 5 LB/Edge off the board next year.

He should not be playing inside. We also have no clue how healthy he will be.

Uh, is this a real question? A healthy Perkins must be on the field. I just hope the staff figures out how to best utilize him.

I'm stoked...

Perkins, Weeks, and Keys...as our starting Lbs.

Talent, hustle, play making and aggressive.

We're in great shape.

I think he should play only on passing downs as a “wildcard” whose sole duty is to rush the passer. Let him line up where ever he wants on those plays.

Everybody should have to earn a spot every year, but highly unlikely that he would not earn a spot.

You will get downvoted for this thread because there some believe that a player doesn’t need to earn his spot. That could not be further from the truth. If Perkins isn’t doing what he needs to do, he will get beat.

What some will do is “project” and say well he didn’t come back to sit the bench and look at his explosiveness. NONE of them know what he will be able to do after that injury. He will lose lateral movement. He won’t trust his knee for a while. That is a 1 year full recovery which puts him in game 3 at best for being 100%. He will miss spring and fall and try to learn a new position (star).

The best thing for him is to add about 20 lbs of muscle to get stronger and be a LB after this injury. Maybe it’ll slow him down and give him the ability to read the offense better and not overrun plays and get off of blocks. He has struggled with both of those.
Potential and 1.00 won’t buy you a cup of coffee. He has potential. He isn’t great at anything.

Of course he has to earn his spot. Every player on the defense has to. He hasn’t exactly been good in 2023 or 2024. He showed flashes in 2022, and that was it.

It’s unbelievable the number of morons on here saying otherwise.

If he truly commits to playing the Star, and they put in special blitz packages for him, he'll WRECK SHOP

IMO, Perkins has to earn that spot because for the last two years, he's been horrible and a massive liability. If he was performing at the level he was when he first arrived, no doubt he would walk straight into the starting lineup. If he's the best we have right now at LB, we're in for a long season!

Don't want to hear he's a 5-star player because that was based on his high school performances. If you think he's performing like a 5-star now, then screw the portal because we have some 7-8 star players two and three deep on defense already!

My man you are dumb plain and simple

He's not even close. Perkins got bullied by a 6'2" 225 lb TE from Nicholls. Go rewatch the game on Youtube and watch Perkins.

Stop living off of 3 plays his Freshman year and live in the present.
