Does LSU have a case for Damages against the SEC

I think the Judge alluded to that yesterday when he gave his ruling and summary. The SEC has intentionally tried to damage the LSU Brand (imo), and has in fact damaged the LSU Brand from a national perspective. Just read some of social media...people across the country believe LSU is guilty here.
Sankey made a fool of himself yesterday. Was completely unprepared and contradicted himself often. If they continue this BS, I do think LSU has grounds to win a big suit, if it decided to counter.

Yep. But all this publicity is good anyway. Lane has to be on cloud 9.

Maybe? I guess we’ll find out after Saturday night and we see how many people tune in to watch LSU.
I venture a guess that it’s going to be a lot.

I would love for LSU to countersue as the SEC brass and liberal university Presidents who have shown they are horrible leaders would not like what discovery revealed.
Every email and communication Sankey and staff received or sent from other institutions and media would be revealed. Countersue and I believe the SEC says Uncle real fast.

I’m reposting a comment I made on another thread. I’m no expert but . . .
I really don’t get what the SEC is doing. It doesn’t need a federal court to declare it can enforce its own rules. It is asking for a TRO to block LSU from rostering the players but to qualify for that TRO it would have to show it would suffer irreparable harm without it. I see no way they could show that - it has the power to sanction LSU for rules violations. So then why file? If I were LSU, I’d be looking to assert a RICO claim or defamation claim or both against the SEC and non-LSU members of the SEC for conspiring to damage the LSU brand through their actions. The timing of the federal suit is extremely suspect to me. And the commissioner’s testimony yesterday has had to cause some severe heartburn back at the office

If anything I think it will help Lane build a juggernaut.
Retarded SEC fans on message boards being mad isn’t hurting the lsu brand
I honestly think at some point the sec/lsu beef will just be quashed and the players will play.

I'm generally not one for taking this type of action, but I do believe it is justified here. They (imo) have intentionally tried to damage LSU's Brand. Maybe it is me being vindictive here, but I think the power is with LSU now. Sankey may be too dumb to understand his performance yesterday, but surely some of the SEC's Legal staff realizes that there is that potential. I'd like to know what the judge was alluding to when he said he did see some potential damages. I'd have to think it was this...from a common sense perspective. I'd expect the SEC to drop this with quickness. However, should we let them? It may be the way to go is to drop it all and let the players play, but as vindictive as that pos Sankey is, I'm not sure.

I am ready for discovery

Exactly my thinking here. I believe LSU is in the position of power.

I think LSU has more of a case against the SEC than the SEC has against LSU

I’m sure the SEC would love to drop this after the injunction ruling they arrogantly thought they’d win, but never underestimate the ego of the ruling class. It’s all about saving face for the SEC now and how do we get out of this while still showing strength to the talking heads, member institutions, etc.

I don't disagree....but again, they should have a pretty strong legal team (one would think) and surely they have to be concerned here after everything that has gone down. The SEC has clearly ONLY gone after LSU here. They couldn't care at this point if a member school had 10 of these "pro players" on their staff, as long as it isn't LSU. That should tell you all you need to know. Inconsistencies and selective enforcement will be their downfall. To go after a founding member like this is unimaginable and not good for anyone involved. The SEC should have to pay a price here, and it starts with Sankey.

What about all the alum? Not saying this is class action noteworthy, however I live in Florida and I am experiencing the negativity. We are the school now known as cheaters. This has impact on Alums opportunities because we are associated with the Brand that the SEC has defamed.

I’ll bet yall any amount of money lsu will not get anything from the sec in damages

As a recruiting tool this is pretty big credibility with future players about the lengths the university will go to in order to support their players.

I've read some of your retarded posts. I don't know if you are a troll or what, but if not, you are definitely retarded. I don't communicate with idiots, less I'll end up being one. Have a great day.

Cooler heads need to prevail and all 16 institutions need a come to Jesus moment and just stop all the BS.
Either the class of 2022 is eligible or they aren't. That needs to be the agreement.
Whether a guy got drafted, participated in minicamp, went through training camp, played in preseason games.... just toss all the crap aside.
I do not think they should play. But it isn't my decision.

That has already been decided. The players will play. I disagree with you anyway, but that's beside the point. The SEC has intentionally tried to damage LSU, and an argument can be made that they have in fact damaged the LSU Brand.
