Does LSU have 5 national championships since 2003 if Saban stays in the NFL?

I think we can all agree that 2011 regular season would've resulted in a Nati if Saban had stayed in the NFL.

Another season that I think goes under noticed is the very next year. If Yeldon drops that screen or Saban doesn't go to Bama and we're playing an early 2000's level Bama that year, we'd have very likely won. That'd result in going to SEC final where we would've matched up Murray and UGA again. I can't say for sure how that'd turn out, but I know for a fact if we won that, we would've wipe out Notre Dame in the BCS nati.

Not going to say 2015 even though LSU was #2 going into the game bc Brandon Harris wouldn't of been capable of it. Can't say 2018 despite being #3 going into the Bama game bc Clemson was too good that year

Imo, if Saban had stayed in the NFL starting 05 stint, LSU wins 5 nati's since 2003.

What happens to Kirby Smart in this scenario? What about every other assistant under Saban during his tenure?

This butterfly thing is really hard to do but I can say with confidence that had Saban not been the coach at Alabama in 2011, I feel confident LSU would have at least one more.

Yea you could argue for sure 2017 season for UGA even though Clemson would've replaced Bama so not sure if UGA would've beat Clemson in '17 season championship. Maybe 2012, it'd be a LSU vs UGA SEC final but really the nati as both would've beat Notre Dame.

2018 regular season could've argued for UGA but they'd rematch LSU for the SEC final that year as LSU would've been 6-2 without Bama in SEC West, and UGA had lost to LSU earlier that year by 4 TDs.

2011 and 2012 would've faced Ok State and Notre Dame without Bama who weren't going to beat the SEC champ.

Considering we have 3 since then and no school besides Bama has more than that in same time frame and seeing as it had never been done in history, I'd say 5 more is an exaggeration. Bama won 6 in that span yet we were going to win 8? All those kids would've went elsewhere over that span and nothing should give us the impression even a minor majority of them would've came here. I know it's fun to think about but speaking it out loud is the part that gives our base the reputation it has. We are delusional.

No. Miles would have won two, giving us three for the era. He would have become complacent even faster had he won that 2011 championship. I think three would have been it, unless he picked up another in 2013/14, but I doubt it.

It would have been hard to fire a two-natty coach, so I think the program would have relapsed into 8-4 seasons, and Miles would have hung on until about covid time.

Wrong! miles didn't become complacent after 2011, he was shell shocked and wouldn't change.

arguably we win in 11 and probably another in the next few years. And if we had two in that stretch i'd say he'd have had one or two more built off of that.

Miles legit was on track to be saban if saban didn't exist, likely finishing with 3-5 nattys. 07, 11 +1-3 more. Crazy to think about.

I still think LSU should have hired from within when Saban left
Fisher would have won a title like Miles did
Muschamp (although that would have been a disaster)
Smart didn't have enough experience at the time

Not Saban related, but with no Katrina, we win it in 2005.

Let’s looks at this from a different angle. Does 2019 happen if Saban stays at Miami?

If Miles wins in 2011 and one other year would he have gotten fired in 2016? Would O have gotten the head coach job?

If Les could let go of the offense, he would still be on a run.

absolutly not. you can't have 2019 without everything that transpired before, including 2011.

That’s not what the OP said. He said 5 TOTAL (so 2 more), not 5 more. If you had paid attention to what he wrote you would see he only added 2011 and 2012.

But if you won 2011 and 2012, then Miles would have made it several years longer (maybe still here with 3 NC) and you don't get Joe Burrow and the 2019 season. Miles could have become a Bowden/Paterno and become someone that you couldn't fire but also no longer competing for NC's.
