I would move him down the lineup and keep him there for the rest of the season. Will be less pressure at the bottom of the lineup and if he gets going again he can essentially be a second leadoff hitter at the 9 spot.

This. Put Pearson or Dugas at lead off depending on who is pitching.

Considering the high number of strikeouts, I don’t see how he can remain at the 1 spot. You have to get on base walks, put the ball in the ground and beat it out, something. Strike out to do nothing for you.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jay went to Jobert but I feel like Jay will stick with Kling. I'm somewhat torn - I think Kling needs the at bats up there for next year and will come around this year, but I also don't want to see his confidence broken anymore than it already is. I don't know how long we should really stick with him at lead off, or even if we shouldn't give him a break.
With that said, if he sticks, I wouldn't put him at 9. I think he goes to 8, with Thompson at 9.

Does Jay give him a rest like he’s done with others to see how he responds?
Jay needs to send him down the road to Freds in Tigerland for a slump buster asap.

Sign me up for this one. All of our elite hitters have protection and you have a speedy Thompson at the 9 spot.

I would leave Kling at leadoff tonight and see how he does. If he’s still struggling you have to move him down and put an experienced guy like Dugas there on the weekend. Batting lead off in your first SEC series puts some pressure on a FR. Some FR will thrive in that leadoff spot but most need more time.

I agree. I think this is the lineup that makes the most since. From my amateur, non-baseball playing perspective, of course.

This is one of those situations where you just have to know the personality of your players. No one who doesn't personally know Kling can make that call. CJJ obviously thought benching Jones would do him good and he responded well. I'm sure CJJ will make the right decision on Kling as well

You don’t put your worst hitter in the 9 hole.

Jay has described Kling as mature beyond his years and super focused on baseball. Jay will trust him. Even if he moves down in the lineup, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at the leadoff spot later in the season. I do not see him coming out the lineup completely. He is too good for that to happen. Simple fix to his problems is revisiting his approach and watching film on plate discipline. He chased a bunch this weekend and it was likely him trying to do too much on the first SEC weekend to show that he belongs on the field with the rest of the guys. I expect him to settle down a bit and he will be just fine.

Kling is batting .327 with an OPS over 1.000 after having a terrible weekend. If you believe he is the worst hitter on the team then other guys have lofty expectations.

I never said he was the worst hitter.

Jay leans heavily on RLRL as much as possible. I think more than likely you will also not see 4-5 RHH in a row. If Pearson moves to the leadoff spot, which wouldn't surprise me, I doubt Morgan stays in the 2 hole. More realistically based on his history lineup distribution, Dugas either moves back up to 1, or Kling moves down and everyone shifts up.
L Morgan, 1B
R Crews, CF
R White, 3B
R Dugas, 2B
L Pearson, LF
R Jones, DH
L Neal, C
R Thompson, SS
R Kling, RF
You could also reverse Pearson and Morgan above if Morgan prefers not to leadoff, or sandwich Morgan in between White and Dugas.

Absolutely nothing with his ability but I'd move Kling to 9th to turn the lineup over and move Dugas back to lead off.

Yes Dugas will get on base period. He should lead off.

maybe for midweek games because he could use the experience for next season but I think putting him in the 9 hole is best for the weekends, he just seems more comfortable there.

He got hot when he was at the bottom of the order. When he was down there, he had more of a grip it and rip approach. When he moved to leadoff, I feel like he was too focused on working deep into the count and lost his aggressiveness.
correct... cant give young bucks too much to think about...
still think Joebert should be out there against all rhp... just my two cents...

I like this but would flip Kling and Thompson. The coaches see Kling in the lead off spot and putting him ninth is like a second lead off hitter.
