Does anyone think this is how LSU lured Mulkey away from Baylor?

I would think someone with her stature in the profession probably got some kind of inkling this was happening behind the scenes. Woodward could have sold her on it as I know he knew about OU and Texas

Interesting thought, I'd say its possible.

If it was that known, it would have leaked before now.

blee me baws, wbb is not even a gnat on the arse of the behemoth, mega-gazillion dollar deal that's apparently in the works(except that now subsidizing the perennial money loser will be easier)

I think the OP has a great point. This move by Texas and OU has been in the works for months. I am sure news of the Big 12's impending downfall reached Km Mulkey's ears month ago and likely played a part in her decision.

If the women's basketball coach at Baylor knew this was coming we would all know. There's no way reporters wouldn't have gotten wind of this if the non revenue coaches all knew. I bet this was basically between the Presidents, ADs, and more than likely the head football coaches.
This was kept as close to the vest as possible.

Yes, good take

It's a legit question.

In WBB you can win a title regardless of conference, but it is an interesting thought because conference disbursements to play into an atheletic budget.

She might not have known specifically that OU and Texas would join the SEC, but OU made it no secret a few years back that they would be looking for a new conference. The Big 12’s future viability has been in doubt for some time now, it might have played a role in her decision.

She has big LSU ties so I wouldn’t be surprised

Well she obviously sat down and had a private conversation with Woodward, whom which you stated probably knew. If I was Woodward, I would definitely be dropping hints that the downfall of the big 12 was coming.

Sure. She really knew way back when Kramer came here for baseball.

Just curious. Why do you think it’s irrelevant?

because it’s girls basketball, a boring, non revenue generating “sport,” it has zero bearing or relevance to this huge business deal that is apparently in the works
