I accidentally downvoted you but I agree with you so much that I went through the hassle of refreshing the page just to upvote you and erase the downvote.

I'm not sure he can win an SEC game period.

Not as long as Saban is at Alabama.

You are setting the bar quite high for any new HC.
From 1988 to 2017 we won five SEC Championships. Two of those were by Saban and another was with Saban recruited players.

Saban has won seven, two at LSU and five at Alabama.

So you believe that if Saban retired tomorrow, O would be capable of winning the SEC? I don't. There are any number of other coaches who would beat O regularly.

I want him to win a SEC game first this year.

He’s never won an SEC Road game.

He’s never had a winning SEC record, or come close to .500.

And you’re asking if he will win an SEC Championship???

I don't think O can win the Birmingham Bowl title, much less an SEC title

I have no idea if he would win one but I know the chances would improve. I'm not optimistic. I've watched LSU since 1960. Winning championships seems to always be the dream of the fans but not so much in the minds of the Admin. They are like the Republican party. They want to be invited to the big parties but settle for just being there and not hosting the event.
I remember when Saban was here many fans were ready to fire him and some have never forgiven him for losing to UAB. Some were glad to see him leave.
If the same group that hired O are going to hire the next one then we would may as well ride out the storm. At least give him to the end of the season.

No. It's not because the team is bad this year it's how unprepared they are. Coach O is already throwing people under the bus and he looks completely lost.

This is a genuine inquiry. Does anyone here still believe that O can bring an SEC championship to LSU? If so, what is the basis of that belief?

Alright I'm going to give you a genuine answer:
1. Match Alabama's expenditures annually! averages: 986K for high school recruits per season. LSU spends 360K

I'm still waiting for evidence that he can win an SEC GAME this year, let alone a title.

I believe he will win between 8 and 11 more regular season games, total, before he is discharged - assuming he coaches all regular season games this year and next year.

I wish I shared your optimism. I see no more wins this year and nowhere close to 8, let alone 11, next year.

Title? The jury is still out on whether O can win an SEC game. Let alone a title.

O couldn't win a title if he were head coach with Alabama and Alabama's coaches and players.

O is incapable of outsmarting, outscheming, or out-building any generally competent P5 coach.

There is a 0% he ever wins an SEC Title, much less a National one. That's why the hire made no sense overall.

My low number is based on 2 or 3 more this year (the conference is bad, baw) - and 5 or 6 (total) next year. I can see that as a floor and still produce at least 1 losing and 1 .500 season.

My high number is based on 4 more this year and 7 next year - while O has a pretty low floor, he has a pretty low ceiling, too.
