Great question. I hope many here finally realize (they will not) that 90% of what is said here about the behind the scenes stuff is wrong. Heck 3/4 of it must be false because it conflicts with other rumors and one precludes the other.

There is far more truth to this aspect than anyone can understand. It would look incredibly bad for the school. It doesn't matter if TAF pays or a booster pays it. The media would still focus on "LSU PAID $15MM to replace its winning coach."

Don't know that we'll ever know for sure.
A few scenarios in my mind based on some media reports.
1) King squashed the Fisher deal due to political pressure and public perception of spending that much money when LSU is "broke".
2) There never was a search for a new coach (I don't believe this).
3) Fisher backed out. Based on his complicated personal life that is not hard for me to believe.

Nobody wants to coach a team that represents your fricked up fan base.
There's no amount of money worth the lunacy of LSU's fan base. Life is too short. I don't know why Les Miles hasn't fled yet, too, but he needs to.

The Miles buyout was where it started
- you have to buy out the assistants, buyout Jimbo, sign Jimbo to 6 mil per year. I'm having trouble believing this was ever going to happen.
