He's won everywhere he's been, he's in year 2 at Notre Dame, hardly a bum
Oh yeah, Grand Valley St, Cent. Michigan and Cincinnati are fricking powerhouses in big time conferences. Btw, in every OOC game against a big time team while he was at Cincy his teams got dismantled. He didn't coach the '09 UF game but it wouldn't have changed much in that game.

Yep, but let's clarify, tubbs did alot with little at auburn and leach didn't get fired for on field performance
Are you fricking mental? Tubbs had some absolute studs in his tenure at Auburn.

The question was what coaches have had success with mediocre coaching and talent, he was one
Posted on 9/23/11 at 10:04 am to LSUdm21
What were his average recruiting classes ranked?
Posted on 9/23/11 at 10:04 am to josh336
Here is a list of coaches in the last 10 years who have somehow managed to do what Leslie cannot do: lose fewer than 2 games a year.
Nick Saban (multiple times)
Urban Meyer (multiple times)
Gene Chizik
Gary Patterson (multiple times)
Jim Harbaugh
Chip Kelly
Jim Tressel (multiple times)
Chris Peterson (multiple times)
Brian Kelly
Mack Brown (multiple times)
Bobby Petrino (multiple times)
Mark Richt
Bob Stoops
Kyle Whittingham
Pete Carrol (multiple times)
Joe Paterno
Rich Rodriguez
Tommy Tubberville
Barry Alvarez
Mark Mangino
June Jones
Dan Hawkins (multiple times)
Terry Hoeppner
Lary Coker (multiple times)
And before you say many of these coaches on the list coach against inferior opponents, FIVE coaches on that list coached an SEC team to 1 loss or fewer, THREE of which had undefeated seasons, all in the last decade alone.
Why can't Leslie pull this off given the ridiculous amount of talent we have at LSU?

I've said for years miles plays favorites now watching Lee play havn't you asked why was jj starting?
i notice none of the miles knights r touching this. i really fell off the miles wagon last yr w/ way he managed the qb situation. its my opinion that ev1 here wuld not b as high on miles if not for the shadys fiasco.

The point that you're unable to grasp, Grandpa Jones, is that he's a better coach today than he was in '08. I don't need to whitewash history to come to that conclusion.
Or just maybe, kid, he just had no qb or defense in 2008.....I guess saban is a better coach today than in 2007 when he lost to ULM and went 6-6 right? Using your logic.

In the same time frame here at LSU, Miles has won more games than Saban. Some on here can except that fact.

What's his excuse @ ND now? He hasn't even cracked the top 10 yet in recruiting? If you can't recruit there you have some fricking major issues.

I like him more than I used to, but I'd still rather a coach who didn't play things so close to the vest. I don't like the style we play generally, but I know that's just my personal preference and shouldn't be given any weight when judging Coach Miles at LSU.
What should be given weight, though, is whether his style translates to championships.

Can you please explain to us what is so funny about Miles frickin' up on a yearly basis? I'm trying to find the humor in losing games because you just let the time run off the clock. I am trying to figure out what's so funny about sitting Scott on the bench after two long TD runs against Kentucky in 07 only to play a hurt Hester. I'm trying to find the humor in watching Arkansas seemingly take away your chance at a NC title in 07. I really am trying, but I don't think it is funny at all.
FACT....the only way they win the game against Ole Miss in 2008 is with a timeout. That is a fact. With one second on the clock, and no timeouts, and after a first down without getting out of bounds, the refs MUST start the clock again BEFORE they allow the ball to be in play...therefore, with one second, they could spike it, or whatever they wanted...there was simply no way to win at that point. You are too young to figure that out though.
As for 2007, armchair qb/coach, LSU won the NC....as for frick ups....I'm still trying to figure out how saban loses to a team in 2007 with no 3 stars on it, much less 4 and 5.......I'm still trying to figure out how he couldn't have his team ready for the Sugar Bowl

Dude, are you that fricking dense? He hadn't even been there for 2 years. He will get it in gear.

Well that's certainly not his fault, he's just the head coach.

Tubs did a lot at Auburn until he stopped recruiting great players and hired a mediocre offensive coordinator.

People act like he inherited that 2008 team and that he wasn't here for like 4 years

I'm confused. You seem to support Miles for sticking with JJ, yet your post basically condemned what he did last year playing 2 qbs

And miles is an idiot, whays the diff?

Are you really this stupid? The clock management issue was the fifty or so seconds they let tick without calling the last timeout or running a play that put them in that position with one second left.
