Hmm I guess it’s just been a fluke that LSUs defense has looked way better since Perkins went out. And don’t say it was South Alabama because LSU got their arses lit up by Nicholls with Perkins playing.

We're as good as most other teams in the top ten. We have some deficiencies but so does everybody else.

No they aren't. But who has really stood out? Texas beating Michigan looks more and more of a soft win. USC losing doesn't help the Tigers cause either.

As long as LSU wins every remaining game by one point, IDGAF about your rankings.

It’s not blasphemous to say yes or no. Next week is key. Ole miss knows what their walking into … 36-35 tigers!

As of today, we are not a top 10 team and haven't played like one. Saturday will move the needle one way or the other, no matter the score.

Outside of the quacks and nuts there are no real top 10 teams only pretenders this year.imo

Maybe Texas as well

I don't but I didn't think they were going into USC either.

They just don't have the defensive personnel and no, they're not better after losing Perkins.

I do think however that there are plays to be had against Ole Miss and Bama's defense for sure so I think they've got a punchers chance but aTm and Arkansas are both better than I thought they would be at this point.

If they are, we will find out the next three weeks. Can they AT LEAST go 1-2 heading into the bye week still ranked?

Realistically, I don't see us as a top 10 team, NOW. I think we could be by the end of the year if we continue to grow on defense. Like others have mentioned, we will know everything we need to know after this Ole Miss game. Regardless of agreeing with not being a top 10 team, you kind of lose creditability with "that new running back" & BK comment..

only because it seems that free agency/NIL has diluted the killer instinct in just about every team, everyone's beatable, no "elite" teams currently

Right at this moment no. But if the defense continues to improve we have the offense to take us far. It's possible.

Sure there are

Much more parity, sure but that doesnt mean there isn't a top 10.

The playoff was expanded without addressing the real issues so we've got less dominance, less experience, less quality depth, huge schedule inequalities, automatic bids tied to those scheduling inequalities but in time, things will shake themselves out and we will have a playoff filled with blowouts from teams who have no business competing for the title.

Besides my reservations on D, I do. If they can fix that, LSU is very much in the thick of it.
