You obviously were not at the LSU-Houston game in Dinardo's last year

Mark Emmert and Nick Saban are not walking in the door this time to turn things around.

You have King Alexander, Joe Alleva, and a warmed over Les Miles.

Since Leslie's last contract extension. That's when I stopped spending $$$ on the program. The insane buyout and rollover...egad, our admin must be composed of incompetents on the level of the Brits who signed on to the Convention of Cintra.

He is saying until I get my budget increased, nothing will be spent on athletics. Alleva's been neutered, he's a puppet at this point. Not only did he stop the Fisher deal, he basically advertised it today in that interview, so everyone would know how things are going to be.

LSU athletics is in trouble

It amazes me the End of LSU Football as we know it is occurring because some coach that wasn't on any Ranters radar 6 weeks ago wasn't nabbed.

And that presumes that Jimbo was all but signed which nobody is really saying. Alexander certainly didn't.

It has definitely seen better days. 2003-2007 were much better.

I think the real issue is that the decision was made because of political concerns being placed over what's best for the program.

I remember in the 80s the Univ of Alabama got some President that was going to make Alabama the 'Harvard of the South.' He hired Bill Curry. The program was so pathetic with Curry the REC had to run off both Curry and the Harvard boy.

Now I want Miles to really stay and succeed and I want to see fricking run out of town.

How do you propose they do that more than they already do? Are you forgetting LSU is a school? Maybe you're forgetting that good academic programs actually benefit more people in the long run than a 12-0 season.

If football is that much more important, then just pull for the Saints.

So, the world needs more LSU wins than engineers and mathematicians?

That's what goes first in these budget cuts...science and math.

Alexander is certainly going to rue the day he was dumb enough to give that interview but it seems like the politics were simply one of the considerations.

Another was, by his own words, they had "pretty much" already decided to keep Miles. If Jimbo told them to get bent, why would they fire Miles? Just to "do something"?

I am going to try to be uncharacteristically optimistic because this fan base is not same as the one from those bad old days. We have seen heights those fans then only dreamt of. And we have seen how low low can be. And we ain't going back there.

I am talking about the leadership from the President to the AD to the boosters. Saban came in 15 years ago and addressed all of that. Skip Bertman corralled it all and made it productive. Now? It is full blown amateur hour.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but what did Saban do to address that, and what did Bertman do to corral it all? Please cite specific examples in your answers.

Jesus Christ! Is it physically impossible for you to say that maybe, just maybe, somebody at LSU farked up? Essentially Alexander just took a huge bite out of the hand that feeds. He basically said that the biggest money making part of LSU doesn't mean a damn thing to him.

This arguement is so shortsighted. Mark E knew that premier athletics was a major cog in getting LSU as a whole on the right track. He stated as much on multiple occasions. That is why Joe Dean was told to butt out of the coaching search when Saban was hired.

A great athletics program for LSU is vital to academics, the state economy, and the LSU brand as a whole.

I admit it was shitshow. I'm just saying maybe they thought that keeping Miles was a better move than paying Jimbo nearly 7 mill/year. If that's the cAse than I agree. He's not worth that much.

No, I don't think it's over, but there are concerns. For many years, LSU football was meddled with because of politics and good ole boy politics. Emmert and Saban came in and said, essentially, "We will run the program the way we see fit."

They won and got their way. Bertman had enough cache to continue. Alleva hasn't had the history or clout to carry it, the Tigers have trended down, and the political factions now want a bigger input. Alexander bowed down when he had a chance to make a stand like Emmert did.

It's now on Miles to pull it out. And he should be on the line to make the product better. No question. But when Emmert hired Saban, he took lots of backlash for hiring Saban for the unthinkable sum of something like 1.3 million. But he did it.

I'm a Les Miles fan...but if he was retained simply because of perception over the buyout, political shenanigans are back, and that's not good for LSU.
