Tulane also increased the hate and rivalry when they kidnapped Mike the tiger in 1950. It was reported the police found him in his cage abandoned on a N O street. They had wanted to spray paint Mike and his cage Greenwave green, but better judgement prevailed.

why hate tulane? what threat are they to LSU? Plus when you actually get outside of Louisiana and meet decent people that went to other schools you don't feel the need to hate specific schools anymore.

you must be too young to know the raping that they used to put on LSU fans......

or how freaking obnoxious they were back then...

I don't. I wish we played them every year I love going to a college game in the dome against Tulane. The crowd is not bad and there is beer.

a long time ago,the uptown crowd did everything they could to hurt LSU.The sugar bowl committee would try to find any reason to not invite the Tigers,The super dome announcer would callout LSU football formations to warn 2lame.Ask Dale Brown about the way he and his team was treated when 2lame hosted an ncaa sweet 16 event.Dale had to practice at Bro Martin because 2lame forgot to open the dome for the Tigers.I don't hate 2lame,but they reaping
what they sowed.

Growing up in Southeast Baton Rouge, our middle-class neighborhood (and many many others) had split loyalties (mostly Tigers)... and after the LSU Tulane game, we'd be out in the streets, and the loser's fans would give wheelbarrow rides around the streets to the winner's fans. Anybody else ever hear of/ participate in that now-dead tradition? And I am not even *that* old...

Actually, the proper spelling is Tuck Fulane....

Still have that button!

My daughter wore a "Tuck Fulane" button home from the hospital, 1 day old, day of the game in '81. Of course, by the age of 20, she'd learned that Tulane was irrelevant and rightfully hated Bama.

LSU and Tulane are 1A and 1B to me. I grew up in NOLA and I'm the third person in my family to get a degree from both schools. I spent a considerable amount of time on both campuses growing up and they both have unique qualities that I love.

Nothing beats a Fall Saturday in Baton Rouge, but Spring time in Uptown NOLA is pretty damn awesome too.

Sorry bro but no one at Tulane gives a single frick about ULL or ULM

I'm not from NOLA, so I never got the hatred. And my SO is from a Tulane family, so I've started halfway pulling for them except when they play LSU.
Younger folks have never been exposed to the true LSU/Tulane rivalry. It was very similar to Georgia/Georgia Tech.

What it was about, from my perspective as a 40-something:
LSU and Tulane were the 2 big colleges instate; all the other schools were division 1-AA.

LSU was public, open-admission, and represented the state, and Tulane was private and in New Orleans. There was more of a rivalry between Baton Rouge (the capital) and New Orleans (the big city) back then, too. A lot of Nola seemed to think La was nothing but coon-asses, and the Nola culture was superior (back then, there was a significant difference between New Orleans "Creole" food and the state's "Cajun" food, too).

The football rivalry has faded away, and the culture of the whole state has homogenized to the point to where everything is about the same now.

Its hard to hate on them now. In the 80s it was different. Sometimes their fans can be dicks when they say stuff like "I have a Tulane shirt because I went to Tulane. You have a LSU shirt because you went to Walmart."

Hating Tulane meant something once, if only for state bragging rights. But now, the truth is that Tulane isn't even in the same class as Tech, maybe about the level as ULL.

Usually, in that relationship, the hate flows upward. That is the case for me. I don't hate them one bit. But they hate us. And that further pisses them off.

I'm not from n o either

Well we now know what position you hold with your employer, since you can't spell "Manager" correctly I will go with any job below that pay grade!!!!

Yeah, I bet a large portion of the student body doesn't know what ULL or ULM stand for
