I plead with LSU fans to not be like Norte Dame fans.

Maybe the BCS will create a special LSU rule.

Not if we pick up a bowl win to go 9-4. Another 8-5 might even make Alleva frown.

QB play cost us 1 game???? If I'm a HC watching film on LSU I'm telling my DC that their QB sucks...stack the box and stuff the run and you'll shut down the offense. I tell my OC to open up the playbook and be aggressive. It's ok to make a mistake cuz they'll never get in the endzone, and who knows our defense may score a few points too.
Meanwhile our defense has to try and pitch a shutout while the opponent is playing on our side the field THE WHOLE SEASON!!!! This has everything to do with the QB.
If we would've had a decent QB last year, teams would have had to drive the entire length of the field on our defense, it would've been ok to give up field goals, and they wouldn't have stayed on the field the whole game, Danny McCray wouldn't get put in 1 on 1 coverage with Percy Harvin, etc.
I mean, where to begin with the all kinds of fail scattered throughout this post?
Our defense had to pitch shoutouts??? Uh, no. Our defense had to hold teams to less than 26 points a game, which is what our offense scored on average in our SEC games last year. Our D gave up over 27 points in SEC play last year NOT COUNTING PICK SIXES.
Now, did the play of the offense have an effect on the D? Sure. But a D that gives up TWENTY F'ING SEVEN points a game is just plain terrible. Bottom line.
And no, "decent" QB play would not have changed that, in fact we had better than "decent" QB play. Even if we had GREAT QB play, we still would have lost at least 3 games due to our embarrassing D.
As for our O forcing McCray to be on Harvin, whatever the hell that means, McCray was burned 1 on 1 by Harvin on the FIRST SERIES OF THE GAME before LSU EVEN HAD THE BALL. LSU was down 34-14 in the 4th quarter before Lee threw the pick 6 against Florida.
After throwing the early pick 6 against Georgia, we drove right down the field and tied the game to negate that, but Georgia then built up a 45-31 lead with 3 minutes left IN THE GAME before Lee threw the 2nd pick 6.

The negativity in this thread is flowing like the slime in Ghostbusters 2. These are the threads make the offseason that much better.

I hope that negative comment wasn't directed at me. I'm probably the least negative poster on this board. I was defending our young QBs from that idiot blaming the whole season on them. Pointing out that our D was horrible last year isn't being negative, its a statistical fact.
I love the GB2 reference by the way.

No, not at all....just to this thread in general

I agree with you. The only game that QB play costs us was Bama. The defense which was so loaded with NFL talent underacheived considerably last year.
Which is why I am more than concerned going into this year. We lost a shitload of talent from our D that wasn't exactly stellar last year. The idea that a new coach will waive a magic wand and make everything all better is really naive.
I'm afraid we will have to score 30 points a game to win. Say what you will about Saban, but the defense has gotten progressively worse with Miles as our coach. I also would say that the offense is much better though.

why? our defensive coaching staff was filled with retards last year. we have one of the best secondary coaches and an NFL-quality DL coach. chavis may not be a superstar, but he knows the SEC and can be solid with talent
what "NFL talent" did we lose? tyson? ok (even though he didn't really fit the scheme and was drafted really high to fit another scheme + a shitty draft)
RJF was a very late round pick
Taylor was a traitor and a very late round pick
Beckwith was a late round pick and a whiner
Coleman has been moved to LB b/c he's a crappy safety

Either you just made that up, or your calculator is broken.

Not blaming the season on them at all. I'm blaming it on the jackass that got kicked off the team.....idiot

Well, you just named our NFL talent defensive players.
If you think that a new DC will change everything then that is your opinion that you are entitled to. I don't share it. It may happen in 2010, but I still think our defense will struggle next year. Which is why I'm about 60% 9-3 and 40% 8-4.

I'm just trying to defend Miles, who I truly believe is a good coach. And a defense who had their back against the wall all season.

a bunch of 6th/7th round picks and 1 top 30 guy (in an average draft)?
