think recent history has shown that pretty much every coach in America is two disappointing years away from being fired. 99.9% of LSU fans would say that last year was a disappointment, so I was just trying to gauge what other LSU fans think that level is for this year. I'm not here to assess whether it's right or wrong for that to be the case, but you'd have to have your head buried in some pretty deep sand to not see the realities of college football's landscape when it comes to this sort of thing, and we're no better here at LSU.
I'm aware of the nature of coaches and their job security these days.

I'll go ahead and take that with a grain of salt, considering that the whole nature of the post went over your head.

I could see it being inflammatory if I was a fan of another school. But as a fellow LSU fan who was simply asking a question, I don't see what's so bad about it. If I was on here trashing the guy or the players that's one thing, but that's something I've never done nor will you ever see from me.

I'm not outraged by your post. You called other folk rantards, which is a major case of the pot calling the kettle black, and later asked me to give an example and I cited your post.

I see you still haven't answered my question as to how many FCS schools we played when Pelini was here. Imagine that...hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmm.

which I promptly refuted.

I don't need to.

I'm not jumping through all of your hoops. I'm not concerned with it to be honest and I don't need to search your posts to know you're a tard. It's not something I need to prove to you.

you must be pretty smart to be able to tell something like that from a handful of message board posts.

I've read your posts on every forum on here, even back when you were Geaux500 or whatever it was then. I'm well aware of your tardishness.

stirring the pot a little here and there doesn't make me a ranter though.

I'm just playing with you. It's all good.

There is no reason whatsoever for four losses, and I'm not so sure why most LSU fans are so content with three. I have to ask, what happened that we suddenly feel that the team needs to take two full seasons off? Because Perrilloux left? Is everyone resigned to the fact that Miles set the program back two years because of the Malveto promotion? It's certainly not because we haven't recruited competitively.
Since 2000, we have never lost a combined nine games in back to back seasons, even during Saban's rebuilding years. There's certainly no reason for it at this point in the program's history.

I think it depends on how bad the team would look in those losses and had to pull out minor miracles similar to the Troy game.
This is a tough schedule with a new dc & still inexperienced qb.
Three or four point losses to UF, Bama, UGA, & Mississippi should be excusable if the team doesn't look confused or uninspired.
Another year like last season and fans will finally realize that most Les' success was all due to what Saban left.
IF that happens, 2010 will have to be a banner season.

Most of us agree with you there.

Even the great Saban lost 3 or more games in a season every year here except one. When you have three Top10 teams on your schedule and two of them are on the road and another road game against a perennial Top10 program, 3 losses would not be a disappointing season unless your expectations are through the roof, which is unrealistic.
Like I said, given our schedule, 9-3 is the break-even point. 9-3 is realistic. 8-4 is disappointing. 10-2 is a successful season.
You could have the most talented team in college football, manhandle your entire schedule, and you're probably going to lose at least two games due to injury, misfortune and plain bad luck(see USC).
LSU will be a much improved team this season IMO. Will our record be significantly better? Maybe, maybe not. The difference between an 8-4 SEC team and a 11-1 SEC team is oooooh so slight when you've got Florida, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia all with pretty equal talent and Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas and Ole Miss not too terribly far behind in that department when looking at the starting 11 on both sides of the ball.

None of those were preceded by a five loss season. Even during the rebuilding years.
