Woodward will call Saban first and make him say no (which, of course, will happen)

No one in the coaching top 10 will be off his list.

Established coach. Too big of a risk with an up and comer. If it works out that’s great, but if it’s a swing and a miss it could set your program back a decade.

Would you mind overpaying for one of those?

Two guys who may be better than what we have today, but who have pretty clear ceilings? No thanks. Those two will never win a title here or anywhere else. I’ll give credit to Fisher for cashing in before offenses changed, but he won’t ever move on from his offense and he will never win another one running it.

If you do overpay, do it for a guy who can win you a ring.

Let’s go after Joe Brady, but I really don’t think O is going anywhere.

I'd sell my soul for Luke Fickell, but Cincy is going P5 so that won't happen

Woody hired arguably the best coaches in the history of those schools, and you’re bitching. Jesus, you people.

Again with the Napier stuff. I don’t get it. If I may quote myself:
quote:

Fired as OC at Clemson by Dabo. Had some success as an analyst and WR coach at Bama, so what. Fired with Todd Graham at Arizona State the next time he got to be OC after having the 42nd(!) ranked scoring offense. Has a couple great years at friggin’ ULL and suddenly he’s the savior?

If LSU gets a new coach it needs to be an elite coach, LSU SHOULD be past hiring "up and comers" and some random dude on staff who eats gumbo...

Lane Kiffin is the only viable replacement for Ed O.

LSU has the status to hire the best.

The next hire needs to be a championship caliber coach. Otherwise, what is the point?

There would really be no point in hiring an unknown commodity to replace O. We can guarantee 5-6 wins with O.

I would rather they take their time and find a guy who is totally legit rather than find someone, anyone, just to throw darts in an attempt to put butts in the seats

Let's look at some previous coaching hires at LSU and understand that this probably has no bearing on what this AD does

The last 4 LSU Head coaching hires had P5 HC experience prior to landing at LSU Multiple ADs

Gerry Dinardo

Vandy - 19-25 over 4 seasons - sounds bad but Vandy was so much worse then than they are now, if you can believe that

Nick Saban

Mich St - 32-24-1 over 5 seasons Only one year above 7 wins

Les Miles

Ok. St. - 28–21 over 4 seasons

Ed Orgeron

Ole Miss - 10-25 No winning seasons
Usc (interim) 6-2
LSU Interim - 6-2

Woodward's history is varied

Washington

Steve Sarkisian - no HC experience Assistant HC, OC at USC for two season. Prior to that a QB coach 2000-2006 various places

Chris Peterson - Head Coach Boise State- 92-12 8 seasons

Texas A&M

Jimbo Fisher

Florida State - 83-23 8 seasons, 4 ACC Atlantic Division Champs, 3 ACC championships, 1 Natty

No judgements to be made really, just here is what the past looks like.

Last coach LSU hired with no P5 Head coaching experience was Curly Hallman who was 23-13 at southern Miss. A man whose credentials were bolster by some guy named Favre.
