No. He can't be near the hiring process for the next football coach.

It’s easy to tell who in this thread has never hired a person.

He’s also the same guy who hired Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey to LSU and it’s turned into 3 national championships. Didn’t he hire the gymnastics coach as well?

You think those sports are the same as football?

SW will overpay for the lowest risk name that can still sell a few tickets. We can forget about a Clark Lea, Brent Key type.

Most people want to minimize risk. Bc for every Clark Lea there are a dozen Tom Hermans.

If Woodward had hired an up and comer with no real experience y’all would be screaming about how LSU is not a stepping stone job and we should hire only the highest caliber proven coaches.

No, I think baseball and football are different sports lol

But the goal is the same in every sport. Hire a winning coach. Hire the best coach available. And he’s done that. Sometimes it works out—baseball and WBB—sometimes it doesn’t. But he has shown an ability to hire winning coaches. Let’s not start pretending those 3 NCs aren’t important to us.

Woodward is keeping Kelly and we are putting lipstick on this pig. Next year is going to be a complete offensive rebuild. If nothing else it will be interesting to see. I predict LSU is going to throw money around on the offense like never before. They have no choice.

Giving 2 coaches 10 year $100 million contracts when everyone was asking “but why” is not a sign of a good AD. Especially when both were colossal failures. We’re going to give that goober a 3rd try? Why stop at 10, make it 30 years $300 million. Surely that can’t fail…

I never thought Jimbo was a great coach, I agree there. But with both Jimbo and BK, taking experienced HCs away from big programs takes money. Even Napier is getting a $20M+ buyout and he came from ULL. We didn’t get BK from ULL, we pulled him from ND during playoff run.

I keep seeing the Rant fantasize about getting Kiffen (who also had not won anything significant). Kiffen will command a similar price.

Hell no, and if LSU is 5 & 5 on the night of November 15, both Kelly and Woodward’s asses will be fired on November 16.

I’m not sure what you were trying to analogize with the Pope. But, I think a very well made point was presented that the HC contracts are absurd. Whether it be because of results or transiency. The Kelly hire looked great honestly and might still work out. There is not one person with a fiscal stake trying to fire the guy right now. Everyone needs to stop looking at what they think of what Vanderbilt always was. Stop thinking you have a predestination. Our players certainly will keep playing their hardest because they want professional contracts, succeed in college, and create wealth. Ya’ll are losers to think Scott Woodward or our coach doesn’t want the best. Or whoever else ya’ll think makes decisions

Hell no. Football rule$ and SW has shown that he wastes money on high dollar coaches that suck (Jimbo and BK). Fire Woodward now and then replace BK. Can we get Jon Sumrall?

Kiffin will get $12 mil a year, easily.

Woodward needs to be fired before Kelly. Keep Kelly for another year and give the new AD time to find a coach that is the real deal. Not another big name over the hill coach who still thinks the "old way" works.

No. But we’ll see the normal progression for the career of a coach has changed. The blue bloods are not as attractive anymore with nil.

Not in the slightest. He's messed up every FB HC he's hired.
