Do you think there will be a kicker battle between Ramos and Burrell

Ramos has been starting at kicker for 2 years, but he seems kinda spotty at some times. Burrell has an absolute boot, and I feel like he could take Ramos’ spot. That’s just my opinion though

Ramos can’t even hit 50 yarders. I’ve been saying we need a new kicker since Brian Kelly became the coach

My inner jerk wants me to ask “ Can either one punt the ball?” But you bring up a good valid point.

You can tell by Burrell’s occasional shanks/knuckleballs on kickoff that while he has a hell of a leg, it may not translate to kicking FGs.

Ramos doesn’t have a powerful leg but has shown to be consistent when the LS and holder do their jobs.

I’m more excited about signing a transfer punter who’s half the size of the two we just had but 2x better.

Need to hire a dedicated special teams coach first.

Like 97% of Burrells kicks have been touchbacks?

Thus, the offseason has officially begun.

I don’t recall ever saying otherwise?

There’s a lot more that goes into kicking field goals/punts than just having a strong leg.

Peyton Todd made that abundantly clear.

Doesn’t matter who the kicker is if we don’t block the opposing line, snap the ball correctly, and execute the catch of the snap down to putting the ball on the ground.

But Burrell has a monster leg. Ramos is average, but good kickers these days need to be able to hit from 50+. Ramos can’t, Burrell can.

Hell of a rebuttal though, I can tell you put a lot of thought into that.

They’ll have a competition in the spring and Ramos will be the best kicker on the team.

I’m pulling for Aidan Corbello to have a good spring. He’s got accuracy and range.

The competition hinges on live operation and scrimmage kicks…and those are much more difficult to time well. Ramos does it at a high level. Can’t imagine him losing the job.

Burrell was nailing 50 and 60 yarders as time expired to win games at Haughton. He can do it. Is he that inconsistent?

That is more likely because mechanics for kickoff are different than FG. He’s normally shooting for a spot or away from a returner.

I think his long is 55 so he can obviously do it. Beating out Ramos is just going to be tough. He looks like the favorite for 2026 though, since we didn’t scholarship a 2025. We could get an early enrollment 2026 or portal player if his numbers aren’t great this spring. Who knows?

Definitely, but even his ball flight is far different than most kickoffs.

If he can kick the ball out of the endzone, I don’t care about hang time or how it looks, I’m just not sure it translates to kicking field goals…especially if he’s doing both.

Yes we need a new kicker. Ramos has a weak leg

I feel like the main reason that everyone's opinion of Ramos has soured is because of all the bad snaps/bad holds we had this year. He was pretty reliable when the other people did their job. Although I do admit that he doesn't have a strong leg compared to most other college kickers.

Ramos should do all PAT’s as he missed only one all season in the last game of the season due to bad blocking. He should also kick all field goals that are 45 yards and below. Anything deeper than that should go to Burrell.
