Neither....O line hurt most of season and frankly less talented than the elite programs.

quote:I think he has tried to install it. It's just like Saban said a couple of weeks ago. This offense is not what it used to be. They don't just line up and try to run it.
If he wants a modern offense then he would make sure one was installed
The issue is not that they don't want a modern offense. It's that they don't know how to do a modern offense correctly.
But I agree. It's on O to recognize that and make a change now. The SE hire was a mistake.

Exactly!!! Getting rid of Canada was insane.

What is wrong with you people. We started 2017 with 11 offensive lineman. Every one else had 16 or 17. We have 8 new starters on offense. And then two of the returning starters missed 5 games each. We have a first year QB and no returning receivers with more than 12 catches. Below average SEC running backs.
Given that the offense has done very well.
We have solved several of the problems with expected incoming recruits.
You guys write as if we are heading for a 6 and 6year instead of about to be 10and 2.

Previous head coach. Our offensive talent is far below our defensive talent, and it has been since about 2008. It takes time to rebuild that. The only NFL talent we have on offense are second year or first year players. THERE ARE ZERO JUNIORS OR SENIORS ON OFFENSE WHO ARE NFL PLAYERS!!! (Except Burrow and Lewis who were both added by Orgeron)
This has to be a joke...............Burrow doesn't have the skills to play in the NFL

What makes you think O had any other choice but E....????
Seriously. I think Miles’ contract has limited our choices for an accomplished offensive coordinator...
It’s stupid putting this on O when his hands were tied...

If O did not choose his OC, then we may have more problems coming from the top.
But I've heard conflicting reports about that from everywhere.
I've heard O wanted to hire Freeze or Briles but F King blocked him. That still falls on him to hire the right person. And if it's a budget deal, it's still on him to spend the budget wisely.
I mean, we threw a bunch of money at Canada, but now we have a budget issue? And now that Miles is taken care of, that excuse can not be used.
But if O truly has no choice in the OC hire, then we have bigger problems than I thought.

I firmly believe O had no real choice.....
Otherwise he would have got who he wanted....
Instead, he settled for E. Not saying E was a bad hire though....
We had too much youth and inexperience....I’m sure most OC’s were reluctant to come here....they knew the o line talent was down...

That's possible. If that's the case, hopefully he is able to not be restricted in the offseason.

Watching the Rams and Chiefs. These guys have 3.5 to 4.3 seconds to throw. We have no where near that. We have to improve our offensive line. Then we can talk about our OC.
Miles left us with 11 offensive lineman. Then we lost two of them. The SEC average is 16.5
We had more kickers on scholarship than linebackers
We had no top tier SEC running backs
No QB and no kicker
There is no further explanation needed.
We started the year with 23 returning offensive line starts out of about 300. And then those two, guys missed about 4 games each
When will you people actually understand the facts.

Interesting.
Why are we worse every year since Les left if it was his fault?

O talked last year about lack of depth on the line. He inherited a bad ssituation. That's why he had to go to the jucos. Then we lose ed Ingram and have constant injuries. The offensive scheme is better than I formation toss dive but the line sucks.
Why is this so difficult to understand? Winning 9 games is a huge success this year.

Neither do 90 of the 103 QBs ahead of him.

Whoever's fault it is, i find this offensive stagnation offensive.
