No, I don't.

We couldn't even win the conference when we had Shaquille, Chris Jackson, and Stanley Robertson.

And JJ doesn't seem to be getting the most out of this team this season.

But hope springs eternal!

Prob the hardest of all NCAA titles to win. So many games to play so many variables . I do think he can put together a team that will be tourney bound 4 out of every 5 years. That being said I'm comfortable with where we are heading and look forward to the ride.....

Possibly, yes! The program is certainly headed in the right direction. There is still much work to do, but I have much confidence in what JJ is doing. Filling up the PMAC would help with recruiting.

Yeah, we were headed in the right direction, but that team died in WW2.

syraclose isn't quite a blue blood. They have only won 1 nc, and gayheim stands a decent chance of having that nc and a couple hundred wins stripped from his dumb arse. People forget that "the close" is in the middle of their own ncaa probe, and they don't have the powerhouse football team (they play flag football up there) to scare the ncaa off

No.. I think we will make the Final 4 though.. Which is really about the most one can reasonably expect.

look at who butlers coach was

This would imply that you don't think our coach could bring us to NC. I don't see butler getting the top recruits and yet they went to the NC game. It's more about coaching than recruiting to get to the final four.

I think Johnny could POSSIBLY be at LSU till his retirement. I know that may be slightly far fetched, but he would have to have multiple catastrophic seasons or NCAA sanctions in a row to get canned. His recruiting ties will keep him successful at LSU for quite a while. A national title would be a stretch, but I could definitely see a possible final four or two in CJJ's tenure.

Each year and each team are different. Can you really be that stupid? Are you being sarcastic?

Chances are it'll be the continuation of the standard LSU M.O. for LSU football and basketball. Get the recruits to campus and then fail to coach em up for Championships. I have yet to see enough X/O and Game Management expertise out of JJ to warrant any future hopes of an SEC or National Championships. Never say never though.

I never thought that I would see the New Orleans Saints win a SuperBowl in my lifetime and yet it happened.

I just think that certain basketball schools have a competitive advantage on recruiting the best players and I am not sure if LSU will ever be elevated to that elite level type school.

The way the landscape is right now, I don't think Johnny Jones will win a National Championship in basketball but he can establish a program that consistently goes to the Tourney at least every other year. I don't think that is asking too much.

Somehow, the administration and the fans have to synergize to make LSU a "cool" school to attend. Gotta stop talking about Shaq and Pistol Pete and Chris Jackson and start getting the new generation of those great players at LSU. Tired of talking about Dale Brown. His time was close 20 years ago. Need something fresh and new and exciting. The fans have to do their part but Joe Alleva and Coach Jones have to pave the way to show that Louisiana State University is serious about building a winning Men's basketball program.

I believe coach Jones should be given his full contract to prove that he can make this happen. No judgements yet on the coach. Let Johnny mark his time but if certain goals are not met within three more seasons, I think the administration has to ask some long hard questions about what can be done for the program.

Sat through 4 years of Trent Johnson, so Johnny needs to do some work in recruiting and assistant coaches. Let him have his time on his contract. At least Dale cannot say that his boy wasn't given a fair chance. Hopefully, Johnny gets it done for a long time in Baton Rouge !

Bro, this is LSU. I love our coach and our program, but unless our fan support blows up and we get some big time booster help, we're not contenders.

No.

I think we might get back to the Final Four in a couple years or so. That would be the pinnacle of success here.

We may not even make the NCAAs this season, given that we lost to teams like Rhode Island and Alabama. We really, really need to make a run in the SEC now.

Yes it is always possible. But I kind of hope we don't because then everyone will be expecting one every year and it will be a bad season if we don't. I still say 11-7 in the SEC will be a good year. I don't think many of you "basketball fans" were there suffering beside me during Trent's 2nd and 3rd year teams when any win was a wonderful thing. It is even a lot harder to win a NC in basketball than in football because you have to win so many one and done games and any team can have an off night.

just need consistency. Everyone compares us to UF but they have been consistently in the tournament since Lon Kruger took them to the Final 4 back in 1994. Since then they have missed the tournament 5 times. Pretty solid for a non "blue blood"
