In 2007 the highest paid coach was Saban at 4M. If he were locked in at 4M per over 10 in 2007 he would be a bargain in today’s market
He was locked in. He renegotiated. They all are locked in and renegotiate. If Jimbo has Saban level success his 10 year lock in will magically unlock and go higher.

Do you Still Hate Aleva?

I’ve hated Alleva for 10 years. It has nothing to do with Jimbo

Yes I still hate Alleva, but not because of Jimbo.

And that offer was made public news by our S&C coach because he wanted to retain Miles.
The S&C coach wasn’t worried about retaining Miles, he was worried about losing his job when Jimbo would have brought in his own guy.

No, no way was paying a coach that kind of money for 10 years worth it. That is a big time gamble to say the least. Alleva never would have gotten that kind of deal approved.

They are not pissed at Alleva for missing on Jimbo. They are pissed because first Miles was fired during the season, because Alleva missed on the unproven Herman, who never would have come to LSU in any event, and most of all because Alleva hired coach O. Had Alleva hired anyone but O, no matter how horrible, they wouldn't hate Alleva like they do today.

Disliking Alleva has nothing to do with Jimbo.
I dislike him as a person #1 for duke and #2 letting his emotions dictate a very lazy hire.. was extremely selfish of him.. didn’t even conduct a thorough search after his option was courted by another team. He just got pissy and hired the DL coach.

Is 7.5M outside the market today? Are you sure that 75M over 10 years will be?
It's not really the annual salary that's absurd. It's the contract length and the (more than likely) high amount of buyout money he gets. It's just dumb. I don't mind paying a great coach a lot of money each year, but if they think they are worth that much they should be willing to put their money where their mouth is and not ask for a 50 year contract all guaranteed.
I look at it as, I pay you a lot every year, but i am not guaranteeing to pay you that if you start sucking horribly.
Yes, i fully understand how it works, and i understand that my point is not how it works in NCAAF big name hirings.
I just think it's absurd that an employer must guarantee to pay a great employee for 10 years even though the employee wouldn't be required to maintain that level of greatness, for which he was hired.

After the rough start this season and specifically following the loss to Troy, it's the podcast from Chris Landry detailing Alleva's ego and relationship with Orgeron that sealed his fate with me. Alleva struggled for years with Miles to have input on the daily operations of the football program. Since most AD's are not "football people", they stay out of the daily operations of the football program. Alleva's selfishness and ego put the program at risk by hiring a under qualified coach that he knew he could control. Orgeron is forever grateful for the opportunity that Alleva provided him and now Alleva has his hands all over the football operations which is what he always wanted. He had 3 whole months to execute a proper search and it never happened bc he always planned on removing the interim tag on Orgeron.

I still hate Alleva because of 2015. LSU had Jimbo at their price, but Alleva pussied out and kept Les.

Who else was left that would fit here and keep all the recruits?
We lost players on the roster, at least 7, several upper class O linemen.

I, for one, would be very pissed off if LSU signed a coach for 10 years. the aggies are pathetic; they got a damn good coach but ten years is stupid as shite. if i were them i would go to those boosters funding this and collect half of that amount up front, invest it as a reserve for the coaches buy out when he gets complacent in 4 or 5 years. fisher ain't no saban.

So you ask people what they think then tell them they’re wrong??? What a dick. Ok so your defense of the Herman argument is that he was never coming here right? So why didnt our AD have a better plan than to target a guy that wouldnt come here? For the position he is lame as frick. “ I am the search” what a bag of dicks. Its one thing to have a shitty or no plan but then to completely throw your hands up and settle and then to give an insane buyout. It’s just so weak it’s scary but hey keep telling everyone why they’re wrong.
