I don't want Lane for 2 years at $2 million.

Lane wins 3-5 titles here IMO
Players love him, great recruiter, great offensive mind, knows how to deal with NIL.
We'd be a playoff lock year over year

If it means we have a below SEC average NIL fund then no.

Absolutely not. Would be a horrible ROI.
Give me a young up and coming coach at 5-7 mil. per year for 4-6 years (initial contract) and more emphasis on a fat NIL budget to go get more elite players like Delane and Haulcy

fricking wild that a fan wants to make a fiscally conservative move when it's not your money.

Dude finally accomplishes something tangible after 20 years as a head coach for the first time and now he's great at everything and we're a lock to be in the playoffs every year if we hire him -

Alex Golesh......he earns 2.5 now at USF. Give him 5 years at 5 million per and every year he wins 10 games, add a year to his contract. Give him and staff significant incentives for winning SEC, making playoffs, etc. Let him or whoever, make a great salary, and big incentives for success.
Do this rather than guaranteeing huge payouts with no correlation to success. Do not do the Kelly scenario every again.
Their are coaches that would die for the opportunity to show how talented they are, and Alex Golesh is one of them. Somebody will hire him and become a major player in college football.

Lane is hungry dumbass.
What if he decides to bail in the middle of his first playoff run? Can you really still say he’s “hungry” then?
It’s an interesting conundrum.

Pay up now or pay up later after firing the cheap guy. Either way you pay.

Or would you rather an up and comer that is hungry for 7 mill?
who lol?
even up and comers from smaller p4 schools will cost 10 mill.
unless you want a g5 coach it aint happening.
and it aint my money anyways

NOBODY understands that better than Lane Kiffin. If LSU can’t spend significantly more than Ole Miss in the portal every year, then he’s not coming here.
If the day ever comes that we hear Lane signed a contract to come to LSU ….. that will tell us what we all HOPED was true when they fire BK. That LSU is serious as can be about winning National Championships.

I’d take Lane for that over Drinkwitz who wants nearly the same salary. Drinkwitz will likely want 11 million a year.

Yes. I will respond with a question who other than Lane would you want and what is price you would be ok with that hire?
Posted on 11/18/25 at 2:11 pm to Tigernomics
for 15 million we get Lane as a head coach AND sending ole miss back to the stone age. It's a bargain when you look at it like that
