I like some things about him. But he’s also like the cat who ate the canary. He got $100 million and will now rest of the laurels of beating Alabama in OT.

Explain to me the “vast improvements” from the previous two? Lol Because I don’t see many.
He is 1 for 1 winning the West and he is 1 for 1 beating Alabama. And he’s about to be 2 for 2 on both.

He's better than most. Probably 3rd or 4th in Sec
Lol that this post got nothing but downvotes.
He is probably third and absolute no worse than 4
I’d say right now it’s
Kirby
Saban
Kelly
Not sure who else would be ahead of him. And he might overtake Saban by years end.

recruiting needs to pick up though, even if he has worked the transfer portal well
People keep mentioning this and, while it may be true, in this new era of NIL it’s a lot harder than you think
You can recruit the bell out of a kid but if another program can give him more money, you lose him.
That has taken a lot of it out the coaches control.

He’s a vast improvement over CEO and Miles. Those are my likes.
You can’t say he’s an improvement over miles yet. That’s actually quite a ridiculous statement.

Well even before NIL was a thing I always thought it was silly to have a “fence” around LA. You want the best players on your roster regardless of what state they are from. I may have been in the minority with that opinion about keeping in state talent, but nonetheless it doesn’t matter anymore with NIL
You completely missed the point of the fence.
It wasn’t to keep great players from other states out, it was to keep Louisiana talent (per capita probably the best in the country) in.
We never didn’t try to recruit nationally.

Likes: he knows how to run a football program
Dislikes: winning big time matchups against top 5 or top 10 teams

To answer my own question....
Dislikes- lack of fire, recruiting, coordinator hires, foul mouth through out the whole game
Likes- he beat bama

Yes, he is demanding accountability in terms of academics, personal conduct, and commitment to team excellence. The man has won almost 300 games. He took over an LSU program that was in total disarray and won the SEC west in year one. Our expectations for the near terms have to be realistic.

Where do you people come from? There is nothing that Kelly has done or said to make you believe this is true.

Once he gets talent (if he gets talent) we will contend for championships, and the consensus opinion will be that he’s a great coach. The talent is very average in many areas right now, and until that changes, many will think he’s overpaid.

I like him. He's a proven winner. A no nonsense type of personality that expects everyone to improve themselves as players, coaches and people in general. Dislikes? I'm concerned how he uses or doesn't use NIL. If he wants a great QB, which goes a long way in winning big, how does he compete with an Ohio State throwing $1m at Ewers, for example?

I do agree with this but also question his recruiting chops. I know it’s a new staff and NIL has changed things, but this staff isn’t recruiting at an elite level. I hope that changes. We are missing on a majority of the big fish so far, minus La guys LSU expects to get, basically regardless of coach
He has a little Saban in him with a proven process for improvement. He also has a little Les in him with some coaching loyalty and some stubbornness starting to show

No, LSU can do better. Kelly has made LSU into another Notre Dame. Very soft.
Being better than Orgeron isn’t the standard.

Lost 4 games last year
Blown out by Florida State this year.
Barely beat Arkansas
Recruiting = mediocre
Just stop

It seems like LSU is taken more seriously by announcers, media, talking heads, etc.
I know people will say, “who cares what those people think”. But, it’s not good for the University image when those who cover its sports are making subtle jabs, and covert references that make us seem clownish (ie eating grass, coach ripping shirt off Hulk Hogan style, no one can understand the coach, etc.).
