We're never gonna be good!!!!!

I bet we make the 2bd round of the playoff next year and Nuss throws for 4000 yards. I bet some Louisiana kid on the roster is a stud receiver like Kyren, Shelton or Hilton. I bet the defense is better. I bet we win 11 games.

And I bet your soft arse makes a thread in 12 months about why the sky is falling, pussy.

We lose virtually ALL of our production on offense. We have talent, but it's unproven talent. I'd pump the breaks there.

IF our defense doesn't DRAMATICALLY improve, we could have a really bad year. It's going to have to carry the offense some, which it did not do this year once.

Agree. This is a very realistic view of the situation. Loads of talent on offense, but much of it is unproven. Defense has nowhere to go but up; however, a lot will depend on coaching. If no changes are made on the defensive staff, I think there will be great reason for concern being that the schedule is brutal.

Not if we can’t get better talent on defense.

This staff has proven nothing in that regard. Our players can’t even tackle.

We have one elite position group (offensive line) and question marks everywhere else.

A good OL is better than a bad OL, but you don't win titles with OL. You need a really good QB and playmakers.

Your OL just needs to be above-average, like we saw in 2007 and 2019.

Are you serious ? If you control the line of scrimmage, you win the foot all game.

That 2019 OL won the Joe Moore award for best offensive line by the way.

Good OL play is a lot like good DB play. You only really notice it when it's bad, when it's good, everything seems like it's going to plan.

Out OL is precisely the reason our offensive production won't fall off a cliff next season.

That's a really terrible take on your part. You should know better than that.

We’re looking at a 6-6 to 8-4 year next year. We’re still very far away on defense

I have some "not great" news for you - this team is likely going to feel like rebuilding again in 2024.

I just don't see another Joe Burrow or Jayden Daniels already on the roster (both required a warm up year, recall), so even if a miracle QB does show up (or Nuss is actually that dude, and, frankly, could be), 2024 will be the warm up.

Plus, the defense is yearS (plural) away.

I don’t agree because last year we didn’t have this year’s offense and still finished 9-3, and our best win was better last year than this year. Even though our defense was better, yes, it still wasn’t as good as LSU is known for.

BK will not have a defense this bad again. He’s not stupid. You think he wanted to put in all this work fixing O’s screwups just to be held back by a sub 100th Swiss cheese defense?

In 2022 LSU had a solid, but not great, defense. They had a solid, but not great offense. The result, a 9-3 season. In 2023 they had a great offense and a horrible defense. The result, a 9-3 season. So next year essentially the offense takes a step back to return closer to 2022 level than 2023, the defense improves closer to 2022 level than 2023, and LSU finishes 9-3 again. Not "bad" by any means. But not any "closer" either.

I'd be willing to say, knowing we know right now, not really a huge question mark at WR or RB. Without being complacent, we should feel pretty good.

And, there aren't question marks on the defense. We know it is bad, except a few bright spots. Young guys will have to step up, incoming guys will have to grow up fast AND we need help from the portal, staff changes, anyfrickingthing. Throw everything at the defensive wall and hope something sticks.

If Kelly can make a good hire at DC better coaching and the portal can rectify the defense in a season or two, and then we are looking at a potentially epic run from '25 on.

I don't like playing the what if game. However, Kelly knows the defense cannot perform to the level they have this year so he is going to make necessary adjustments to not have this be repeated. But he is also going to have to continue recruiting and developing the younger players to not rely on the transfer portal. Time will tell how this team progresses.

2019 and 2023 had returning QBs and playmakers at WR. 2024 has neither.

That didn't seem to matter to Alabama and Georgia in 2023.
