This isn’t always true. In fact Trey is the only defensive first baseman I can think of like Trey.

Most first baseman are ok with the glove but there for the bat.

I remember him saying that about Jones.

In his first 3 games in the Cape he has played 1B, 1B, and DH. His position listed on the roster is C/1B. If Jay really thinks he will be a future corner OF then he would be working in the OF in the summer.

Frey in his 3 games has played 1B, RF, 1B. Frey is also tearing the cover off the ball in those 3 games. That is good to see.

Are you sure this isn’t confused with Frey, and if not do you have a link?

Jay has said on numerous occasions he envisions Jones as a corner outfielder. Whether that has changed since he said it I don’t know. But he absolutely said so during the course of this past season.

Either way it sounds like we have some good problems as long as they stay on campus next year.

We didn't see Jones much, but I recall him having Matt Clark type speed running the bases. I doubt we see him in the outfield.

Why, so many on here will continuously try to make him live up to the Tre Morgan standard which he never will.

Provide one example of someone holding Travinski to Morgan’s standard. I’m not saying he can or can’t play first effectively, but it’s definitely in the realm of possibility. We’ve had quite a few first basemen over the years who weren’t naturals at the position.

I mean the one game that Travinski played at 1st this past year, he dropped a ball that hit him directly in the glove, which he has also had a problem with while catching. He'd have to improve there definitely, but there's a reason why guys who aren't great defensively usually end up at 1st.

He has one position and one only, DH.

The biggest way Travinski can improve his draft stock is to show he can play a decent 1B and stay healthy a full season. Not saying he will have a season like Ivan Melendez from Texas last year, but that would be the blueprint on his stock skyrocketing. Play a decent 1B with a BA over .300 and 25+ homers.

A team can still go to Travinski (and Ack) and offer them $150k and it has no effect on their pool money. It's just a matter of whether a team has a spot for such guys and whether the player wants to take what could be more money than what many drafted players get.

I sèe this thread as everyone thinking our back up QB should start. Milazzo was clutch at catcher. He's also became a professional base runner. I want to see more of Milazzo. Travinski can play some outfield.

Jeez, this is worse than saying Jared Jones will play OF. You serious?

You could put Jesus Christ at 1B, with his fishing net and people will bitch that he’s not as good as Tre.

I'd take a look at the Samford/Delgado kid in the portal. Stephen Klein.

Why? Already a log jam at 1B. Don't think he is a big enough impact player to take and jam up that position even more.

If travinski goes pro, there is immediate hole for a 1B/DH profile bat

The Klein kid isn't that kind of bat. Doesn't seem like much power to him looking at his size/stats.

I'm also saying this assuming Travinski does not sign UDFA deal.
